Neil49 you sound just like us. When we got married it was just the 2 of us, and the photographer was booked primarily to provide our parents with something.0

I liked the look of the Gazebo chapel in Flamingo. I've not been married in Las Vegas so can't really help but photo opportunities looked good too. Greenery, Waterfalls etc0

I want to book hols to Las Vegas for my 50th and my nephews 21st birthday in sept. wanted to splash the cash and go all out lol eg premium economy with virgin but its just too much money for my budget. Thought about premium seats on thomas cook from Manchester instead. Any opinions on the seats? Any other suggestions. Can't see me managing in an economy seat.
i want the hol to be large very large over the top experience as its not likely we'll go again. I want escapism. I was thinking of booking Caesars palace or Bellagio as they're in the films.
The reviews of these two hotels on trip adviser indicate you don't always get what you pay for so maybe I should look mid range instead?
We enjoy a dabble at the casinos and a little bet on the footie and horses etc. Will want to take in some shows too.
Any opinions about hotel choice? Any other thoughts etc thanks a lot.0 -
We had a drive-thru wedding at A Special Memory wedding chapel and it was just the two of us
We were picked up in a limo from our hotel, driven to collect our marriage license, then to the chapel. We were married at a drive-thru window by the most stunningly beautiful pastor to have ever walked the earth! Then we hopped out for some photos before the driver took us back to our hotel (he would've taken us anywhere within reason but we wanted to get changed before heading out for steaks and cocktails).
The whole thing - including our outfits - cost around £250. We just wanted to be married, rather than to have a 'wedding' so we weren't particularly bothered about where we did it but when we saw the drive-thru option it very much appealed to both of us - it sounded fun, relaxed and a bit different and that's exactly what it was. We just sat in the back of the limo giggling for most of the morning
I always recommend A Special Memory - they do all sorts of ceremonies to suit whatever you want. They do have a traditional chapel as well as an outside gazebo, then there's the drive-thru. They also do destination ceremonies on horseback and out at Red Rock canyon. Oh and our pastor runs the marathon every year and marries couples at the halfway point!
Just a tip for those planning Vegas weddings - you can pre-apply for your marriage license online up to 60 days before the ceremony. It can save lots of time on the day but the clerk we saw on the day said overseas visitors don't seem to know about it

you can even get business class flights on BA from dublin for under £1000 !!!0 -
The why is that UK airport departure tax is far higher than Irish airport tax.
I've done it and saved loads - the only thing you have to remember is to allow a REALLY long transfer time as if you miss the flight from Dublin - the rest of the trip automatically cancels. If you live close to Heathrow or Gatwick though it is possible to fly DUB LON in the later afternoon or evening and take the LON LAS flight the next day and go home (or book a cheap airport hotel) for the overnight.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I can't remember seeing this before, so in case it helps anyone. We were wanting to look into the possibility of upgrading using miles on Virgin and I didn't realise they now have the option to search by fare class. We also didn't know if there were capacity restrictions on the upgrades, we thought there might be but weren't sure what they were.
This guy's page was really helpful.
http://www.haebc.com/2014/05/how-to-upgrade-on-virgin-atlantic/
And based on what I found for our dates, there aren't any reward seats available (which we already knew, but we weren't sure if that was the test for whether there would be the possibility of upgrading from an allowed fare class).
I was quite surprised that the fares for the classes we could upgrade from were not dramatically more than what we were finding with a regular search. I always thought the classes you could upgrade from were a lot more expensive.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Even doing a return to a regional uk airport can sometimes work.
We are doing ncl-dub on June 8th with aer lingus then dub-las, las-ncl with American the following day.
Total for 2 of £150 for ncl-dub including bags and a cheap hotel.
The dub-las-ncl saved us over £400 when compared to ncl-las-ncl and we get a night in Dublin which we will treat as part of the holiday.0 -
If travelling out from the same UK airport as you will be transiting through on your way to Vegas -and if travelling with a LCC who will charge you for bags on the UK DUB sector -leave the hold bags in left luggage and pick them up and check them before flying UK airport DUB -saves a bit more.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

hah !
when it comes to planning & logistics, its all me, not the missis!
I think most of us are the "planning half" of couples
My OH hasn't a clue -and when he tries to surprise me usually ends up paying over the odds which drives me nuts so we've agreed I'm the travel planner and I really don't want to be surprised
I love the planning -it's like a hobby in itself.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
