  • Sold some shoes on eBay for about £10 after fees. So that's one less thing in the house as of tomorrow. I am still trying to throw away or get rid of anything we don't want.

Very naughty and went out for diner again tonight but we're officially on hols so are treating ourselves. Out for a birthday party tomorrow but driving so limited spends.

Spent another £40 on stuff for renovations/ electrician who is coming in to do some jobs whilst we are away. Labour will be about £100 and we will have another room in operation electric wise.

Paid £55 to the CC, rang new cc who said it would transferred within a week. Couldn't transfer whole balance so need to keep throwing extra pennies at it whilst there is a small balance. I'm really getting through this now and it should be gone completely in 12 months :)
  • Will be going away today for 4 nights (Peak District) hope it's not too touristy (it will be) as it really is here this year. This is the busiest year since we've lived here (2 years). Drove from house to city last night and took a Yonkel to get to main road, in about a mile met about 40 (maybe more) sets of cyclists!

Don't get me started on cyclists, yes maybe you are on holiday, yes maybe you do want a leisurely bike ride but you can't cycle in the middle of the road it's selfish people have to get to work/school/anywhere. And then I could get started on the extreme night cyclists (no lights or reflectors dressed in black and out in groups on country roads) why oh why oh why. I've had one really near miss when I didn't see them until really late.

Back to hols Need to stick within budget if possible but it's gonna be hard, nevermind it will be fun too.

Last night was good, spend £20 between us :) ok night BFs friends birthday room a bit small for amount of guests but okay. Good buffet, I love a good buffet!
  • We are 'up north' arrived exactly at 3pm to book into hotel. Dogs walked in hotel grounds , swimming for an hour with miniOCC and meal a local pub.

Drive was soooooo easy and the roads are to much less busy. Scenery is lovely and hotel is good. Said to be 4* but I'd say 3* the main thing is it wasn't expensive and they allow dogs. I'd say everything is about 20% cheaper than home which is nice :) and seems a little unfair considering norfolk is the most poorly paid area of the country statistically!

Tomorrow is going to rain so no major walking planned and we will go to Bakewell and surrounding area to sight see. I'm hoping to discover some delicious tarts too!

Nothing to report on money front Apart from spends all from holiday budget, although apart from tea I don't think we've spent anything. Tomorrow should be more interesting on MSE front with FC loans coming out, money shuffle starting and s and s ISA due to purchase some more fund thingys from my DD payment.

  • Thanks everyone :) I'd love some day out ideas alex that'd be fantastic. We are staying on the western edge of Sheffield as it has good road links out and the hotel was reasonable and allowed the hounds.

Dogs are loving it, hotel is in many acres so can let them off the lead for a run and a good sniff around. They were very good last night too although they snuck onto miniOCCs bed in the night (not let on beds at home) maybe it was a comfort thing.

MiniOCC seems a bit better now. He had football 6 days last week so it was probably a bit too much. I think he's missing school and having a growth spurt as he seems to be getting huge!

FC is just a few pence below £20 so hopefully in a couple of days I should be able to reinvest that and will have 14 £20 (decreasing) loans on the go. Would like to invest another £100 when I get some spare money but currently other priorities. It's turning out a good investment if £200 so far.

Must get up soon but then again zzzzzzxxxx

Okay I cocked the money shuffle up, annoyed with myself. Set all standing orders to same date as I had contingency in the accounts then totally forgot I'd done this when I transferred some of contingency to CC thus money shuffle hasn't worked so I've changed standing orders back to a day between them and fingers crossed this doesn't generate charges which will be annoying. Lesson learned (again).

Edited: just realised that my muck up was due to not considering weekends I had set it off with a day's delay between them but my shuffle forget to take into account weekends so all tried to come out today. Whoops. I therefore need one months contingency in each account as originally planned or I need to leave 2 days in between or check very carefully every month.

What sort of thing would you like to do? There are (obviously) lots of nice places to take a walk with the dogs. :)

If you'd like to do something a bit more organised, the Chatsworth estate is beautiful I know there's young farmers events over the summer (should be 1-2 this week), there's also Haddon Hall - you can go onto Bakewell from there which is really dog friendly. Heights of Abraham and Matlock Bath should be fun with a 6 year old. If you're into Harry Potter Hardwick Hall is not far, after you could visit the crooked spire of Chesterfield?
