I had a really black cloud come over me this afternoon, luckily I left work to pick up the miniOCC. Money is always tight at work this time of year for a month or so so I have to be really careful. It does get me down sometimes. We built our business from scratch with no loans and (now) no overdraft over the last 10 years through the recession and manage well but occasionally things are tight and it blackens my mood as I like to keep on top of things. In a month or 2 we will be laughing and I'll have caught up with everything and be very happy!
Got our first Christmas order in today! Usually they start in September but getting it now is really helpful for our planning :-) we are trying to increase our orders from people who pay well as a lot of our customers are independent business who quite often do not!
On a plus note swapped miniOCCs monthly savings to the 6% regular saver I opened up to increase interest.
Am going to have an early night and imagine today didn't happen!0 -

I hope the dark cloud lifts soon. What sort of stuff do you do that involves Christmas orders? I LOVE CHRISTMAS!
I've placed my vote. Between me and you... It was for you!

Christmas is very busy for us but I too love Christmas
Today I've been very spendy
£8 on football socks for miniOCC
£7 on normal socks for miniOCC
£7 for joggers for miniOCC
£8 for a birthday present and 2 cards.
£4.50 on treats (naughty)
£17 on Christmas presenate
Plus we were so late we have tea in a cafe £15
I'm now officially totally useless at spending money and tight as a ducks backside. I am very pleased with the Christmas presents I got though and they will mean less expenditure later in the year and nicer presents.
Halifax free £5 landed in account today so sent straight to the tidy account to OP on the last day of August. I now get about £20 per month free money from the banks which is very good indeedie! £10 goes to cash ISA and the rest to the mortgage. It all adds up.
Still no sign of new CC will have to give them a bell if I don't get it soon as I'm currently paying interest which is really annoying me! My last CC was done and dusted within a week and this is dragging on.
Sold a courgette outside my house so 30p to the holiday fund!0 -

Pleased you're feeling better today. It must be hard having dips in income through the year. Mentally it must feel like a step back even though like you said it's normal.
I have always wanted to be self employed, I just haven't found anything I can make that's good enough to sell! :rotfl:Mortgage [STRIKE]£269,000[/STRIKE] £258,987 / MF date [STRIKE]June'49[/STRIKE] June'49

With all the talk of Christmas I have watched Home Alone. I am now feeling very Christmassy
MiniOCC us at soccer school this week so has been very tired, grumpy, difficult as he is in the second group so with bigger kids. I have suggested he ask to move to group 1 with kids the same age but he point blank refuses........tbc0 -
.... So we have a very grumpy 6 year old every evening!
Have made an appointment at bank to look at fixing other smaller part of the mortgage and reducing term to about 7 years so that I can pay it off quickly. Alternative is to leave term and put OPs in another account to pay a lump sum at End of the 5 year fix. Problem is I will be tempted to dip into it unless I can't get it without notice. Any ideas of where I can out and get reasonable rate add bits and bobs into it like quidco payments Etc but can't easily get money out. Someone without a high street branch. Any ideas anyone? Fix currently offered 5 years at 2.39% and may take 8 weeks to change mortgage to refuse the term so I'm thinking I may miss out on this rate by reducing term. Opinions please!0 -
Variety of reg savers for 5 & 6% is all I can suggest.MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0

Can't believe I got to p3 in 24 hours. The MFWs are very busy today!
Finally received new CC today I just hope they transfer balance very soondon't like paying interest.
Today miniOCC was very naughty. It's really difficult when you have a child that is usually compliant and they have a total melt down. I had no idea what to do. Hope it passes soon.
Nowt much to report money wise. Did a little tidy of my accounts, was a NSD and 3.43 requested from tcb. That's my lot today. I feel double inspired to get rid of mortgage today and do it in less than ten years. not sure how that's possible yet but here's dreaming.
On another note there was a mention of cabbage trees on another diary so I'm going to order seeds and have a go at growing them :-)
Edit : totally forgot, got just under £35 in dividends from Royal Mail which have been reinvested. Another 6 shares purchasedthese are my only decent shares the rest are pants!
