Its certainly true that sometimes you can read too much and I didn't want to say that A&L definately wouldn't turn up as it would just the time they did but I'm glad it turned out well.
  • Hi all

I spoke to Natwest this afternoon as I previously made claims on three different accounts, all of which I accepted Natwests offers. Two of my cheques came through but the third cheque did not despite all three letters acceptance letters being sent in the same envelope.

Natwest said that as it was an existing complaint it would be dealt with as usual and the cheque should still be sent out.

The girl I spoke to also said that if I've not received anything within 3 weeks to give them a call back.........

let's hope it arrives in time for holiday!

    MM

P.S. Thank Martin, you're an absolute star!!!!!!

Hi all, can some one tell me does the FSA ruling to hold off on the claims actually cover ones that are being dealt with by the bank its self and not the courts or the FOS.

    Thanks:confused:

    Hey,

Just out of hospital after a couple of weeks and heard about the FSA announcement. It's enough to put me back in!

Don't know if these have been posted previously, but there is a petition against the FSA action at the link below...

    http://www.gopetition.com/online/13596.html

Also, complain to the FSA about their decision ... http://www.fsa.gov.uk/pages/About/Complaints/Contact/Form/index.shtml

Maybe they'll back down if there's enough dissention!

The banks are putting a hold on all claims but it is up to the individual court if they put a hold on cases already planned. The FO is not taking on any new cases.

One last comment about conor You are missing the crucial point of all this as clever as you are with your financial handling of your affairs
No ione is saying that a person should not be charged for going over their limit, the crux of it is the unlawful amount they are charging no one would mind if it was as the oft and the whistleblower investigations found it only costs the bank £2.50 !!!!!!

Hi All, i know i posted in this thread yesterday and some where awaiting on the outcome of my preliminary hearing. I had my hearing this morning against A&L, the bank did not turn up to defend and the judge was lovely, he even worked out extra interest i was entitled to as i had only calculated up until the date i filed my claim in April. He ordered that A& L should pay me the full sum within 14 days. The judge was lovely, i was nervous about any questions he may ask as i didn't know what to expect, but i didn't have to answer anything, i don't think he was too happy at the bank wasting his time. He did ask though if i had been in touch with a&L and i told him i had tried to negotiate with their solicitors but they told my their client did not wish to settle.Don't give up and let recent media cover put you off, i was so nervous last night and this morning but it was all worth it in the end, (well i will be waiting to get that cheque before i really celebrate - they have 14 days in which to pay my the full amount claimed, which is just short of £3.5k)Thanks for all the support on this site xx

    Congratulations and well done you!
I had some good news of my own yesterday too...

I started this whole thing back in February and finally got to the court stage with a date for 22nd August. I bank with HSBC and they haven't acknowledged one single letter from me. Anyway, I was mortified on Friday when I heard about the OFT test case, I was finally coming to the end of the tunnel and with weeks to go it had all been snatched away from me. Or so I thought....
Luckily, the bank hadn't entered their defence within the 28 days that the court requested and so I wrote to the court (letter would have arrived last Wednesday)and asked for a judgement. I thought I was pushing it a bit to be honest as I have read many posts where the courts are accepting late defences from the banks. However...the court manager told me that the judge had given me judgement for the full £5100 I was claiming, which included all charges from the past 6 years, interest and court costs.

Like you, I won't be totally happy until the money is in my account - and as I haven't got it in writing yet I'm still quite nervous.

So, keep going everyone. I really thought this was the end on Friday but it really isn't - the banks have played a blinder and will have put so many thousands of people off of claiming. My advice to anyone thinking about claiming or continuing with their claim - Don't be put off!!

I put in to reclaim my bank charges with a no win no fee company called Bank Smart only to receive a letter today saying that I hadnt paid enough charges so I got a bill for £117.50 inc vat
Can they do this - do I have to pay as I am disabled on DLA and I only get £439,00 a month to live on Regards star10463

Despite what other posters have said there is no such thing as "no win, no fee", this company have obviously charged you a £100 failure charge (for want of a better word to call it) plus VAT. This will have been in the small print be it online or on paper.

Has to why or how come they say you didn't have enough charges to claim then we need more information as to how they worked this out or if you have your statements yourself to check your claim.
