Hi PP
Futsal is indoor football:A !
Glad things are going your way a bit. I take it that as you are moaning about moving dates that you
a) found the right house near the right town for job and
b) you finally managed to talk to a human about your mortgage, who saw it your way, and gave you the transfer of mortgage you needed to move?

Hi Chev! Hope you're ok?
Yes and no! We did speak to a human, but it was one in the Halifax rather than the HSBC! He looked at the whole thing and approved it pretty much straight away. We STILL haven't had anything in writing from HSBC to say a formal 'no' to either of our applications, which is pretty disgusting. We're fighting the 7k redemption penalty, and the guy who sold us the original mortgage for HSBC is on our side as he says that the whole thing is down to lack of common sense. Thankfully he's not denying that he told us when we took it out that we'd have no problem porting it in the future unless a) we'd had payment problems (we haven't) or b) the house was unsuitable (it isn't), so it sounds vaguely promising. For once, I've been leaving it to DH to deal with entirely, as every time it gets mentioned my blood starts to boil again, and that's not particularly good for the little one inside! I play free bingo instead.
Had a bit of a solicitor nightmare as well, not ours who have been fab, but our buyers', who have been awful, hence I have been continually moaning about dates - sorry! But we're hoping to move this week. We got the house we wanted, which should be comfortable for us for quite a long time and we did get it at a really good price. Looking forward to settling in, having baby, and then having a bit of extra cash to bring the DFD forward (and in that order too!).0 -
P.S. For anyone interested, Wikipedia says:
"Futsal traced back to 1930 in Montevideo, Uruguay, the same year the inaugural World Cup was held in the country.
Futsal is played between two teams of five players, one of whom is the goalkeeper. In addition each team may have 7 substitutes. Unlike some other forms of indoor football, the court is delimited by lines, and not walls or boards that players can use to rebound the ball. Futsal is played with a smaller ball with less bounce than a football. The emphasis is on improvisation, creativity and technique."
So there you go! See my highly irrelevant post in Karmacat's diary if you're remotely interested in the relevance of any of this - but it really isn't worth looking!0 -
Coo! Five in a team with *7* substitutes - what the h*ll do they do to each other??? :rotfl: I wonder if its on youtube?
Panda, since you're still on, how much hassle is it to open up a neteller account? I've won over £30 on one of the £1 sites (hurray!) and I'm sure that when they see my account details, they're going to do this whole taking-it-back thing, and of my money as well as theirs. I'm a bit worried, truth to tell. Care to assemble a "press release" to your fans? Sorry to bug you about it.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hi panda
glad that it is sort of going ok for you then. Fingers crossed about moving and the portability issues. I guess if you are suddenly absent, that will be because little one has come early!

Sorry KC, I came and went quite quickly (so to speak!) so missed your post. Unfortunately I have no idea whatsoever about Netteller. I've seen it advertised, but beyond that I don't know the first thing about it. I haven't actually heard of the reversals, other than vague mention of them - where is that posted? I'll def add to the bingo bible anything that's relevant - let me know if you find anything out.
HSBC rang today to confirm that they have lodged an official complaint for us about the redemption and they'll come to a decision within 8 weeks. That'll be 8 weeks interest on £7k then, please.
I threw a wobbly today when I was told that our buyer's solicitors are waiting for some planning permission from the buyer, blah blah, several more weeks etc etc, so told them I was cancelling the whole thing - said I'd had enough and wasn't moving anywhere, and would put the house back on the market after the baby was born. Fortunately, when a very pale DH rang all concerned back half an hour later for damage limitation purposes (having been woken from his sleep following nightshift by the screaming maniac downstairs!), it transpired that nobody had paid the slightest attention to me anyway. Furthermore, the 'enquiry' didn't actually exist, but the to55ers at buyers solicitors had lifted the wrong set of case notes and were referring to a completely different client. So, we may be moving on Friday, but then again we might not as it appears that Barnett's Solicitors of Southport haven't got to the page in 'Conveyancing for Dummies' which explains that Friday is the day following Thursday.
Off to Google Strep B, as I found out yesterday following a routine test for something else that I have it, and have no idea what it is other than that it's something that up to 1 in 3 people have, it can kill or seriously harm your baby if you don't get antibiotics in labour, and it's really easy to detect but they don't routinely screen you for it.Am I missing something there, or would it not be an idea to do a quick swab on every pregnant woman if all those are true?

Rats! Tried to do things too quickly, and lost a really complicated post. Panda, just googled strep b, and am horrified at what I find - I can't believe that we don't test for it. I'm generally very positive about this country, but I'm hearing a bit too many stories like this recently... Canada and Spain, two countries that I really love, are on the "testing" list.... makes me want to go there...
About the bingo - thanks for the feedback, if you don't know of any examples I suspect its the mse version of an urban myth, started by a newbie who got panicked by the randomness of Aq uapay's email policy. I got this in one of my email boxes this morning, for instance: "This email is to confirm the refunds for your recent withdrawal(s)". Unless you're up on double entry bookkeeping, its downright confusing. Hey ho, I'm off to check the account.
I hope all is well with you - hugs on your wobbly, of course you're going to have wobblies.... hormones, y'know. We all still love you!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Aw,thanks KC! At least someone does - DS is trying to remove my eyes with a pencil at the moment!
Feeling quite calm this morning. Got some friends coming over in half an hour to help [STRIKE]us[/STRIKE] hubby move the majority of big furniture into storage today and we'll probably move in with the out-laws until we can move. I think DH is panicking that I'll do something silly if we receive any more silly phone calls from solicitors, therefore combating this by removing me from the house and therefore the phone!
Group B strep - definitely scary now I've read about it, although it seems that as long as you know and can be treated there's virtually no risk to the baby. I'm so lucky that it was discovered as it hadn't even been mentioned to me and was just found as an 'extra' on a different fairly trivial test. I'll be telling absolutely everyone I know who's pregnant to demand to be tested! In the unlikely event anyone's stumbled upon this post when looking for info about Strep-B, see the following: http://www.gbss.org.uk/filepool/2007_10_GBS_Pregnancy_leaflet.pdf
Wow, less than a week to go - scary when people ask when baby is due, and instead of answering so many months or weeks, the answer is 'Tuesday'!0 -
When I was in hospital having Tom there seemed to be loads of people in there for other reasons who tested positive for group strep B. Not sure why they don't test but there is an online petition somewhere...
Sorry to hear about your stress over the move - it's a wonder you haven't gone into labour already!0
