Ooh, just realised that I've got Ebay auctions finishing all day today from the half-price listing day last week. My stuff very rarely sells on auction, everything is buy-it-now/best offer, but out of about 30-odd items there should be the odd few that go.

We've got approx £1,000 in the savings account now from free money, some of the Ebay, bingo, MB, cashabck etc, so we're over half-way to getting the amount required for the solicitors for the house move. Also got about £1000 available on overdrafts if required, so that'll cover it which is a massive relief - was worried that we'd get stuck with not enough cash!
  • wahooooo I knew you would raise the money you needed - that is great news. Good luck with the ebaying :D

That is amazing, Panda, well done you and OH - people sometimes post on here about needing to raise a thousand or so in a few weeks, I'm amazed to find it can actually be done, if you know what you're doing. You and hypno, you're examples to us all.

Thanks KC, that's a really nice thing to say even if I don't think I'm a particularly good example! That's the whole point really - trying to sort ourselves out a bit better so as not to be such a bad example to the kids when they're old enough to realise what's going on. My sis-in-law comes round with her young-teens and talks about credit cards and struggling with money, and her kids will just see that as a way of life - I don't want that for mine.

BTW, only 5 weeks, 2 days to go until baby (I still miss my sig!)
  • Fantastic new sig Panda - wish I had a shorter name now - don't fancy trying to type TrulyMadlyDeeply_indebt! in smilies. Or maybe I could use the challenge???

  • Just had another thought......

What an incentive to reduce the debt figures; as the numbers get smaller, that should free up more room in the sig YAY! :T

Im missing your sig panda, im always checking it for your totals, loving the irony of your new one though. well done on the ebay totals, you seem to be doing really well with it. its really admirable that you are facing all the debt in order to be a good example to your childern. i think it will really pay off in the future.

  • hi, sorry if this has been mentioned before, i couldn't read through all the pages lol! But Sky is a regular outgoing that could be sacrificed, freeview really is an excellent alternative for a one off 30 pound expense. But then again I'm a student and 35 per month is probably just a drop in the ocean to you, my mind boggles at them figures! mortgages are scary! :)

THE DIRTY BU66ERS!!!!!!!!! I go away for a couple of days and they delete my sig!!! (For the record, it currently says: "Please keep your signature to a maximum of 5 lines - MSE Forum Team 2 "!!!!). But that's the whole point - it was only 5 lines, unlike my old one that was also 5 but too big! Oh well, I'll get around to sorting it out eventually!

Trulymadlydeeply - I like that thought about reducing the debt! Or maybe we could just pretend some of it isn't there - that would fit the sig. See, I'm going backwards already because they've taken it away!

Paulburns, thanks for the idea. Unfortunately, the very few programmes that we do watch are on Sky 1 (Lost and the likes!), and some of the housey channels which you don't get at all on Freeview. We've got Freeview at work, and don't even bother turning the TV on as there's never anything on it that I'd watch! Also, the kids channels on Sky are quite good when the 'TV babysitter' is required (i.e. when I'm being too lazy to do proper activities with my poor neglected child!). We did, however, cut our Sky bill down from £60 a month which included multiroom and movies and stuff to the very bare bones package which is about £20. The rest of it is our phone bill that we do through them. We've managed to cut the phone part down to about £2 or £3 a month for calls by never ringing mobiles or 0870 - we were paying about £15 a month for those previously.

I've not been up to anything exciting, just busy around the house. Need to do a thorough update of my challenge totals (although since they've temporarily gone from my sig I've lost the plot and the momentum a bit), which I'll maybe try and do later.

    Hope everyone else is good!
