    Thanks everyone!!!

Unfortunately when we actually looked at the paperwork he'd printed out for us, we're about 8k short as he was only able to approve 95%, not 97% (the extra would have paid the redemption penalty). I know we'll end up borrowing some money to get all the fees and things paid, but I'm not too worried about it, as I've had a lot of low interest deals offered from existing cards etc lately - moving is the priority, we'll sort ourselves out properly when we've done that!

One condition was that we pay at least £3k off a card straight away - crazily, it didn't matter where the money came from - he was quite happy for us to use our overdrafts - so we used £3,800 of overdrafts, and £200 of cash, and it was so satisfying paying it all off to the Virgin card, despite the fact that it wasn't our money! Apparently overdrafts don't count as debt for Halifax mortgage purposes  .

HSBC also rung back today, to say that they're re-submitting the application at 90%. Needless to say, breath not being held for a positive response!

I've said it before, but WE WILL MOVE HOUSE BEFORE THIS CHILD IS BORN!!!

Payday today!!! So it's that time of month when I can get all excited at updating my spreadsheets and signature!

Spoke to Mr Halifax again this morning, cleared up a few things that were niggling me, and everything is absolutely going ahead. Paid him the survey fee and that should be done within a week. The ball is officially rolling!!!

Had a few rather nasty comments on the thread I started about my mortgage woes, so I'm extra glad that I did it seperately rather than here - this is my support and motivation to clear the debt, so a load of comments telling me I talk crap, and am basically stupid aren't necessarily what I want to look back on. Everyone has an opinion, and I really appreciate those that have a different point of view, but there's no need to be nasty - suppose it's just something I've never really seen on this board before. Although the comments are probably somewhat justified, I know I can talk crap for Britain!:rotfl:

I feel very pregnant right now, baby is kicking my insides black and blue (he's trying to tell me to shut up probably!). With all that's been going on, I'd barely remembered that I was pregnant - time to start on names and things. Any ideas?!
  • I love the names Ethan and Deacon I quite like Jackson as well.
One of my friends has just had a baby and called it Owen another one has called hers Makenzie (Not really my cup of tea) and the other is calling hers Elliott (Her Maiden Name).
We have had about 10-15 pregnancies at our work place over the last year, it's been mad....

  • your mortgage saga with Halifax i am finding quite bizzare, fancy making you pay off a card with an overdraft and they think that is good:j well it is for you and if that is what they want that's great, but it makes no sense to me...doesn't give you much hope that they know what they are doing!!!!!!!
glad it is all working out for you and i would give up the other thread if they are being nasty, that is not the purpose of these threads, constructive help yes but nothing else...i may go and post on your other thread!!!!

Thank you! I'll stick around here in future I think - it's my thread and nasty people aren't welcome here! I'll have a look over at the other one next (if I'm feeling brave enough!) to click a few thanks buttons if nothing else!

Moneymaker2 - My OH is also quite into Ethan at the moment. Hadn't thought of the others - Deacon is unusual. I like Ethan, but it makes me think of that evil bloke in Lost?!

MM - definitely NO cowboy names around here! Signed up for your comp site, and entered quite a few, but no cars delivered to the door yet!

Lunar - shame you didn't get anywhere on the first bingo, but there are about 20-odd sites, and you can sign up as you, your OH, your gran and whoever else has a debit card, so give them all a try and you'll get somewhere eventually! The sites have been down tonight though sadly, so no bingo money tonight!

Pinkydinkydo (there's a word I never thought I'd write anywhere!) - really hope that you get a bit of luck with the house sale soon - it is really awful when you don't get any interest. I honestly believe that things are picking up now, and our agents said the same. And full marks for reading all 24 pages of my moaning about it for the past few months! Have you started your own diary or anything? If not, it's well worth it - I might be boring the pants off people, but it's really helped me and there are so many lovely people on here. Good luck!

Savingmore - here to! Halifax lending criteria=totally bizarre!!! They initially wanted us to transfer all our 0% and 4.9% LOB debt onto a 10.9% personal loan, simply because they class personal loans as less bad debt than cards. We weren't too keen, especially as we've spent the past few months changing personal loans onto those cards in the first place to get lower rates! Then they said that they don't count overdrafts at all, hence pay the cards off with the overdrafts - still not entirely with them on that, but hey - if they say jump, we say how high! But then, they must be a bit odd to lend to sub-primers like us in the first place:D !

Been emailing bingo all over the place all day - I think I may be partly responsible for the site crash :o . Oops!

Did our first ever Tesco online shop, and they sent us a load of crap. Can you believe they didn't send my alabama chocolate fudge cake Muller corners?! Seriously unimpressed with that! Not sure we'll bother in future - although the master-plan of spending less than we would instore worked - think it was about half of our normal shop cost.

:rotfl: at you expecting at car to turn up on your first comp entry.

You are doing great and handled the non believers really well on the other thread. I know you will pay off your debts.

Hope today is a great day for you and it would be gooooooooooood to hear from my buddy (do you like my subtle hints there :rotfl: )
