After much to-ing and fro-ing we've decided to stick with the original buyers at the new price of 249,950. The second couple came back with a list of fittings they wanted for that price, which was quite comical as it was a pile of crap - bedroom furniture (which we bought in Ikea bargain corner when we moved in and hadn't got around to/couldn't afford to replace), a few bath cabinets which we'd leave anyway, and stuff like light fittings which I wouldn't dream of taking away! But they were just being a bit funny about everything, and we got a bad vibe - we just didn't like them to be honest and had a bad feeling they'd be more bother. We could easily have tried to squeeze a bit more out of them, but the original couple couldn't have gone any higher and we don't want to lose them. So we've officially sold to the New Year no-shows!!!
Our offer has been accepted on the house we want to buy, but they're not going for any pre-purchase rental at all sadly despite our best efforts. Had a laugh today as we were asked if we'd like to buy any of their furniture - erm, no! Politely, of course!
Back at work today and absolutely shattered from being up at 5am. Was ready to come home when I remembered I had an appointment for a mystery shop at 3pm, which took well over an hour. Paying 37euros though (how does that work when it goes into your bank? Not had any payments like that before) so that's my £10 a day for today done!
Yesterday was the bank for the mortgage - it has to be sent off to head office as it's over 90% LTV. We'll hear tomorrow if it has been accepted. Quite nervous!
Going to have the quickest nosey through everyone else's diaries and post my £10 a day, and my start to the olympic challenge. THEN BED!!!0 -
I got £862 back from the taxman today! Not assuming that they've accepted the numbers from my tax return, but I'm happy to have the cash at the moment anyway!
Got a quote from our solicitors for the conveyancing - £1400ish plus all the charges, expenses, dispersals etc. Seemed a tad high, so picked a company at random out the Yellow Pages, and they want £369 plus VAT. So a saving of about £700 for a 5 minute call. They might be a bunch of total cowboys, but then aren't all solicitors?! £700 better in my pocket than theirs!
Have had a really lousy pelvis day, but not resorted to the crutches yet. Just hobbling around minding my own business and ignoring the funny looks!0 -
how are you getting on, have you had to start using the crutches yet. i really hope you arnt overdoing things. if you are having loads of pain you really should be taking more rest.
Im keeping my fingers crossed that you get everything sorted with the house sale.DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0 -
Well, apart from having the day from hell with HSBC over our mortgage (didn't want to get bogged down here so I did it on a seperate thread), it's been a rather dull day.
Saw the physio this morning - my pelvis is pushing downwards and backwards instead of forwards and upwards which is causing the pain. She also said I had (insert technical term here) which means the baby is taking the calcium from my bones and making them more painful - at least I think that's what she said. So I'll just have to up my intake of yoghurt, cheese and milk chocolate!
Been shattered all day from no sleep at all last night - lay thinking about mortgages, and couldn't get comfortable. I've got to go to work soon for a nightshift, so I'm sure I'll be very sprightly tomorrow. I'd arranged to do 2 mystery shops as well this afternoon which I could have seen far enough - got totally soaked, but £18 worth so at least I achieved something!
Off to check out some more mortgages.0 -
HI panda, i really hope you had a good nights sleep last night. Have you looked into the mortgage any more? i really hope you are able to find something that means you dont have that £8000 to find on top of everything else. ooh i just remembered you were working nights, do you get any time to sleep at work?
Hopefully you are not having as much pain now, you will have to make eating chocolate a priority if thats what they are recomending! you seem to be doing really well with your challenge totals, im keeping my fingers crossed for the mortgage getting sorted out for you.DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0 -
Thanks Lunar! I got 3 or 4 hours sleep last night at work, although I'm suffering for it today - lying on a futon mattress on the floor isn't ideal for my dodgy pregnant bones!
Feel MUCH better today than I did yesterday - can't believe how miserable a day it was. We went over to the Halifax this morning and the bloke in there was really helpful. Only problem is that they count credit card debt much higher than loan debt, so all our hard work of getting our loans onto long term lower interest cards has actually worked against us in that respect. But he's confident that he can do something, and should be able to lend us enough to cover all the redemption penalties as well. Really hoping for a positive result!
I've had a few bank payments in, so going to update my challenge totals, then fill in the solicitor's fixtures & fittings forms, look out our old bank/card statements for Halifax, and then try and get a couple of hours sleep as I've got my (allegedly) last ever nightshift tonight.0 -
Really glad you have had some positive news about the mortgage, you sound much better for having some good news. Its horrible when you are working so hard on repaying debts to get knock-backs like that, its a big enough job tackling the debts in the first place. im really surprised that they mark you down more on credit card debt, especially as it is 0%
Looking forward to seeing your reducing debt totals, whay will be you next debt to be gone completly?DFW NERD NO.656 DEBT FREE 24TH NOVEMBER 2010 TOTAL DEBT AUGUST 2007 £39000MFiT T2 NO.56 WE OWN [STRIKE]25%[/STRIKE] 31.5% OF OUR HOUSE SO FAR!0 -
Next thing to tackle will be DH's Virgin card. For the moment though, we're just going to keep as much money in the bank as possible in case we need cash for anything when moving - since we still don't know how much we can borrow we're hanging on to every penny right now! Payday next week though, so I can update a few totals then.0
