Purpleshoes - just to echo what others have said. Please stay. Don't let a few bad people on other threads put you off.
Just ignore the trolls, the rude, the ignorant and the obnoxious posters. They aren't worth the candle. they are probably all just cowards, hiding behind their keyboards. They are just cyberspace bullies, in real life they probably wouldn't say boo to a goose.0 -
Hang on in there Purpleshoes Ignore the trolls and stick to the boards you know they not on there.
Must go into town now to buy some essentials I just know I will run out of on Christmas day.0 -
purpleshoes hang in there. I find it tough on most forums as I have mental health issues. Like DawnW I stick to those which are supportive like DFW and OS. I sometimes have a look at other boards but they often get a bit judgemental and I retreat for a while to get my confidence back. Big, big hugs.
Over the last couple of days I have been so, so tempted to buy, but I fixed my old Windows computer (dead proud of this) and will look at tarting up an old bookcase instead of buying new for GD's books. I even resisted some jeans in A*da!
Hope everyone has a great day

I get that. I used to teach zumba and theres a forum for instructors and they have a phrase that's Zumba love, its very big over on the US and sometimes you would have people ripping one another to pieces and following it with, but Im only saying it in the spirit of zumba love:rotfl:
The sticky bun fights that used to happen on that forum over the tiniest things were absolutely unbelievable.
Hope you have a good day as well.0 -

Thank you. Wait until Christmas Day, there will be thread after thread of breakdowns over someone turkey not being the right size, am sure that happened last year on here.
That's part of the problem isn't it, when people set up their expectation for christmas to be all singing, all dancing, everything must be perfect and then it all goes belly up because someone finds a lump in their gravy?
I also remember saying on here last year that my mum and I got a takeaway for christmas, you would have thought that I'd put a contract out on someone's life.
Not christmas if you have a mushroom dopiaza and chips, well, it is in my world. If I had a huge family I might think differently, but my view is what is the point of sweating over a stove and we don't eat meat anyway so might as well be a takeaway dinner.0 -

I just went out, its pretty quiet where I am at the moment. Ended up in tesco, so much for me staying away from supermarkets, but its on my way home from the gym and I spied a whole bunch of yellow stickered goodies, tons of tomatoes on the vine, broccoli, bananas, lettuce, got a couple of loaves for 15p each down from 1.45
My mums rescue rabbit loves broccoli, so I'll give some to my mum, will also give her some lettuce for the same reason, I got 22 items for £2.82 and could have got more if Id had my shopping trolley with me, and the good thing was, wasnt a scrum of people trying to buy stuff, was nice and quiet.
I met my mum in the local spoons yesterday for a quick drink before I went into Glasgow and it was deserted, folk are obviously skint and this horrible weather must be keeping people in as well.0 -
Yes, just ignore the trolls, I'm not sure what bit of the forum you mean but I'm glad I avoided it. I usually skim through the Debates about the Economy section and then come straight for the OS bit as it's the best.:A
I'm looking forward to a nice couple of days with my sibling, just chatting, TV and delicious food.
I do need to go out to get a few bits, loo roll, ketchup and some lighters. Quite random list I know.:rotfl: I did think maybe I should get some flowers but I thought it's not necessary so why bother.HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

A pretty windy grim day here. Got up early and went to tesco at 7.30am and it was already heaving:(
Bought a large chicken and some sausages for Xmas day. That will be plenty!
To be honest I find xmas a little stressful sometimes (the pressure that we must all be jolly, and everything must be perfect) and will be relieved to welcome in 2015.0 -

This is exactly how I've felt sometimes. Not the monetary issue but I work in retail and its not been nice at all. But......
I've just spent a lovely morning on my day off reading through all 42 pages and what a wonderful bunch of shipmates you all are.
I may pop aboard from time to time (if I may) as I have been living this sort of lifestyle myself. Tweeking little bits here and there. I can't give up supermarkets and I can't have chickens. I have a little yard and any advise on what would grow in tubs and pots would be welcome as this is something I've wanted to try but haven't as of yet. North facing outside hedge which isn't very sunny.
Ive overspent this christmas by £11 atm, it could be £20 as there have been a change of plans which means 2 extra presents I need to buy. I won't go visiting empty handed (unfortunately my BF does!!!). Its something I disagree with as were having dinner there so I bought extra wine and chocs for the cook and host on christmas day, as i appreciate how much it all costs. Unfortunately my BF wont contribute and only buys 4 presents which is up to him... Everyones different (but hes happy eating at everyones and not buying any food drink or decorations at his). All 17 presents I've bought (a lot of them were under £5 as I live alone and don't earn much). But I would rather give everyone a little something and that leaves me with 3 main presents to buy all in all a total of £200 was spent. Part funded by eBay things I sold. Next year I am cutting out a few relatives. Harsh as it may seem I have adult children and they don't get any gifts other than from my mum and there dad and me, where as I buy for everyone.
Any how I mustn't ramble, ive just been to MrTs it was heaving. I didn't exactly want to but im visiting friends tonight so needed a few bits.
I hope this ship continues to be a happy one. Merry Christmas to One and All. If I have a few I'll try not to fall overboard, which also means in my spending habits too.0 -
Ever wish you hadnt started decluttering?
Anyway, my thoughts for today are, Im going to keep filling my shopping trolley up with donations and one day soon I may have a flat thats clutterish free
Tomorrow I need to take a visit to the local football teams club shop to get one last present for my brother and buy himself and my mum a christmas card and thats me done.
I had a subscription to virgin wine for a few years and this year because I wasnt drinking for much of it, I just let the money pile up, they credit your account as well so if you put a fiver in every month in the 3rd month they credit your account with the same.
I ordered one case all year, prosecco, some of which Ive already given to my mum. Im going to keep that up and do the same next year, let it run till the year end. Never had a bad bottle of wine from there, shame that I dont really drink wine these days. Next year Im going to try and go alcohol free again for the majority of the year, I do enjoy a drink but Ive suffered from anxiety and mild depression in the past due to work issues and I always found it didnt really help. Plus I dont have the money to drink much anyway. Always something else I could be spending it on.
I made broccoli, butternut squash, carrot, parsnip and leek soup, was very nice. If I had to say over the years which veg I buy that ends up festering, always broccoli so Im determined to actually eat the stuff I buy.
Going to take some veg and my stick blender up to my mums at christmas and make us a pot of soup while Im up there.
Weather is getting wild out there again, its to be a bit brighter tomorrow and on christmas day up here I think, hopefully, its rained for the last fortnight with about 30 mins break0
