Ahoy there, me hearty shipmates! I've been reading every now & then but not posting; equally, though, not spending. I thought I was going to have to spend some serious money on a new guest bed - it needed to fit an exact space, and do more than one job - but luckily one turned up secondhand and I was able to do a partial swap for it, moving on a cabinet we no longer needed and just paying half what these things normally cost secondhand, whilst helping a good friend into the bargain!
But life busied up, as it is wont to do around here (my elderly mother's under the weather again) so the bed is still sitting in pieces in a very-cluttered spare bedroom/sewing studio, along with two others, one of which needs dismantling! And I have a big pile of stuff to put on Ebay that other people will be looking for & I don't need any longer. Hoping now for a little breathing space in which to get a few domestic details sorted...Angie - GC Aug25: £478.51/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
Good morning all
This morning I have sold a book on Ebay for the grand price of £4.49 including postage which really surprised me but I'm happy! It was just a used paperback that you could get brand new for not much more on Amazon, but I guess on there they have the free delivery minimum spend. So that's a little bit more paid off the credit card.
Also rang Capital One as I had a card with them a year or so ago that a company has processed a refund onto - they are sending me a cheque so that's another £8-ish.
I have also booked in a mystery dine for bank holiday Monday which I will combine with a cinema trip (paid for using my Vodafone Freebeez rewards) and a bowling trip in the afternoon (I have some free vouchers to use following a complaint). So that's a nice free day out planned.
I've also got myself tickets for the launch of a new Arts Centre on Thursday evening which will be a nice free after work activity, and some free tickets to see Mr Holmes next Tuesday.
The month is filling up fast with free fun!
Nothing planned for today apart from work and taking my library books back. It's raining something awful so I don't mind. Back on the Slimming World bandwagon after my holiday so meals planned for today based around their rules. Made overnight oats last night for breakfast which made my porridge more palatable! Planning to make again today but at work, leaving in the work fridge for tomorrow, which will save me carrying it in on the train.

Hi - I`m on SW too and someone suggested adding frozen fruit to the 35 g amount of porridge. It really makes it lovely and microwaves like a dream. HTH0 -

Hello Shipmates
Sorry I have not been on board for quite a bit!!
Have had op and treatment for Menieres and it has been heavy going!! Have had a lot of wobbles and double vision to deal with which I am finding so tiring.
I am trying my hardest to keep up with the thread but it is running away with me as I can not keep up. Still got several pages to catch up on. Trying to catch up when my eyes are settling down a bit.
Still doing ok on the NBI and keeping to the planned budget of £50 or under for food shopping. Hubby is doing the shopping at the moment and I have to say I am impressed even though extra wine and larger are popping up in the bags when he gets home from the shops. Bless him!! He has a lot to deal with, with me being out of action especially with the ducks and hens. I am plodding and trying to help but everything is taking me so much longer than normal/ At least I am getting fresh air in the process. I couldn't go up the garden to see them for 2 days and I became quite upset. Although I could see some of them through the gate peeping at me whilst I was in the kitchen so that made up for it a little!! Went up there today though which was great and had a little chat with them all and a few cuddles!!
Will keep reading when I can and hopefully will catch up on the thread soon and be more up to date with you all and post more!!
Happy sailing everyone!!

good Morning chums ,I had a great phone call yesterday to say my surgeon has a cancellation on 29th May so I will be off to get my last reconstruction operation done
:):) I am really pleased as its been such a long haul.So for the next few days I am eating up the stuff in the fridge and definitely no shopping at all.I have quite a bit of fruit and salady bits in there so they are going to be made into things to eat from stuff delved from the freezer.
When I come home from hospital I may be at DDs for a couple of days depending how mobile I am.No driving for 6 weeks though which will be a pain, but necessary.Still I have lots of books to read and plenty of knitting .
Hope you all have a good day and hang on to your pennies
