Evening everyone
Sorry to hear that some of you aren't well. Hope everyone is feeling better soon!
Had a good laugh about various neigbour-stories.... Some people are just so strange...! I'm now living in quite a nice neigbourhood where most people are nice and normal, but where I lived before it was sometimes quite annoying, but often also quite good fun. We had these teens who threw loud parties whenever their father was away or they rang all the doorbells in the house in the small hours...We had a couple where we never knew if he was beating her up or the other way round and we quite often called the police... After a while there was nothing unusual about standing on the stairs in the middle of the night, discussing with a neigbour if we should call the police again... And we had this old lady who was queening around and thought she was better than the rest of us and had more rights... She kept telling everyone that she had lived in a fancy senior residence (mind you, not a home, a residence...!) but left as she didn't liked the place. Later on I heard from someone that she was in fact kicked out as they coudln't stand her any longer... I don't blame them...
Will go to the shopping centre tomorrow, will need to pick up a few things and will also go through the supermarket there. But no big spendings planned. Actually set my eyes on some nice cups and saucers there, but will not even go near them as not to be tempted.
Food spends had been quite good until today when I went into the supermarket and had no plan what to get for dinner. Ended up with some fancy veggie burger which I didn't even liked too much... And some expensive ice cream... Well, will try to do better...
Have Thursday and Friday off, probably I will use the rainy day to sew a test run for a dress - out of an old blanket - and then go into town on Saturday or so to get the real fabric for it. That is on the to-do list for quite a while now...
And on Saturday afternoon I will go to the cinema with two friends and since the movie only runs in the afternoon and IKE@ is very close to the cinema where we will be going we will also go for some shopping after the movie. I will try to restrict myself to the plant pots I need and then we'll have meatballs for dinner.
Just got a text from a friend, her younger sister had organized a sponsoreship run for charity as a school project and apparently they got quite a big sum together and there will be an article in a regional newspaper tomorrow. I'm quite proud of her!
So, need to go to bed.
Have a nice evening everyoneFashion on the Ration 2022: 5/66 coupons used: yarn for summer top 5 /

BirdnerdSpohie - have you thought about going to a local training college to get your hair done? They are v good and cheap but you do need time (which maybe your issue??) Currently my friend cuts mine about once every 6 months - plain and simple just a straight 'across the bottom' cut. But then I am lucky with my hair!!! (and my friend! :T

I craft to cheer me up. Cross stitching is known to really help those with anxiety, and I also do papercraft and mixed media - losing yourself in a piece keeps your mind off things.
I have spent money this morning (know its early). I've been looking for some boots for a while, after my favourite brown ones wore through the sole a couple of months back. I found a couple of pairs this morning in the new look sale for £12 each,so bought one black and one brown. That's one pair of each not one of each shoe!0 -
Had to laugh at the thought of you in one black boot and one brown one emslovesmickey.
I agree any crafting calms you down and stops you getting depressed. Best thing about knitting is I can do that at the same time as watching TV.
I used to do a lot of embroidery when I was doing my training. Was still fashionable then and not quite so expensive as now. I think it must have been in fashion again in the early 80s because I remember embroidering lots of place-mats as presents. It is definitely the absorption.0 -
I knit and watch tv at the same time, but maybe I'm lucky as I rarely get a fit of the blues.I am definitely one of the 'cup half full brigade'
:):) and always have been.My late wise old Mum used to say
'Don't look down at the ground its too depressing, you will be in it soon enough, look up and marvel at what you can see and think how lucky you are to have sight'.
I have spent most of my life looking up, but I feel for those who get a case of the 'bad day blues'.
Today has been a great day weatherwise and I did my mile walk this morning and enjoyed looking at other people front gardens, only wish mine was as pretty, mine is off road parking, unfortunate, but very necessary where I live.but my back garden isn't too bad, although I can no longer do much myself out there Mick the gardener chap, is lovely and will plant up what ever I want for me.
I am awaiting the chair man to return with a new spring for my recliner chair at the moment its going to cost me £55.00 plus parts and VAT so a lot cheaper than a new chair
Right the ironing is awaiting along with last nights Holby to watch while I'm doing it.Still not spent anymore cash this week so I am quite a happy bunny at the moment
Onwards and upwards chums

Ended up getting those books as my giftcard came through today. Cost me £6.98 which isn't bad for two writers guides. I'm having serious writers block at the moment so I'm hoping they will help, so im thinking on them more as an investment than a treat, as one day I will get published!0

Hiya all
Thanks for all your cheer up suggestions - I dont often get down but get cross with myself when i do because i really have so little to complain about! in the end i cheered myself up with a favourite movie/dvd and the thought that on here i would get support when i logged on! :A just telling folk has an effect
NBI today - bought my own oil & put it in the car - now i ve never thought of this being NBI before but my neighbour (female) who saw me doing this said 'oh I always get the garage to do that - they only charge me about £20 to do it plus I'm not sure I'd do it right!!' I managed to not to choke and said 'oh really - which garage do you use then?' After she told me I resolved never to use that garage - they obviously can see a muppet coming and are not honest in that they charge such innocents through the nose! I presume either folks on here do their own oil and water and screenwash for the car and tyres for that matter??? Or, if not very able, get a friend/family member to do so? Blimey!
anything else that folks on here normally do which other people pay for?

My next door neighbour pays a man to cut her grass and pull a few weeds every week...costs her £10.
I appreciate some people can't physically manage their gardens anymore and need help, but she is perfectly capable of doing it herself, even has a lawnmower in the shed, but she doesn't like doing it.
Wouldn't be so bad if he actually did the job properly, I've seen him miss a weed growing beside a plant 3 weeks in a row
I'm tempted to ask her for the £10 and I'll do it :rotfl:0 -
Not been posting much as apart from shopping I'v not been spending, I'v even earnt a little extra by selling some of my extra plant's, they have gone off to an allotment and I'v gained a bit of space in the greenhouse ready for the tomatoes that need potting on.£71.93/ £180.000

My Mick-the-gardener comes once a fortnight and it costs me £12.00 ,money well spent as I just cannot bend as I used to.He weeds beautifully the back and front areas and even carts the grass cuttings away with him.It means I can look out at a tidy garden and the right hand side has some very pretty shrubs and at the bottom where the base of my old greenhouse is he filled it in to a depth of about 5" and my bulbs come up every year, and also I have geranimus that have survived the winter down there and they are just coming slowly out at the moment as its quite a sheltered spot.
My neighbour to one side said he would do it for me but it would cost me £20.00 a time.As he has never done a days work in the 6 years he and his family have lived there I thought it was a bit rich,he seems to have little wrong with himself and appears to spend most of his time in the local bookies or sitting in his garden which always looks a tip !!!
.My gardener is very good and at the end of the season if there are any 'handyman jobs' I need doing he is happy to do them for me.Last year he fixed the light fittings in my kitchen that were in danger of falling off.great chap who during the winter normally works with his son renovating old properties ,so I am happy for him to do the odd job for me.
No spends at all today so my purse is staying firmly shut at the moment
