JackieO, I sit to iron too. I have joint & blood pressure problems caused by a condition named "eds3" which makes my joints pop out and my blood pressure drops if I stand in one spot.
Anything to make life easier is a good idea. I'm even considering getting a shower stool.....I sound in my 80s but I'm in my 40s :eek:Kindness costs nothing0 -
I eat porridge every day ( though not the last 5 mornings as I have been on holiday in London) Melon, yogurt, toast and a fryup was a treat and loads of fancy coffees. Not buying it was not spending on coffees etc. OH and I used 2 John Lewis coffee and cake vouchers one day, M&S birthday afternoon tea the next day and free M&S coffee vouchers the rest of the time - so no spends for "flycups". We bought YS salady stuff from Waitrose ( just across the road) and Boots meals deals for dinners. The best bit about London is all the museums are FREE and are all worth a visit. Paid 2 for 1 to get into Kew but worth every penny to see the orchids display. Makes you want to go to L*dl or Al*I to buy one as I now know how to look after them. They are related to asparagus and hyacinths who knew that?0

Afternoon shipmates - spent a few days on the south coast as DD had interview for uni (fingers crossed she gets something closer to home) so spent time sightseeing and visiting copious Chazzers although spends minimum, got wool from ox*am and pattern book which is lovely - £10 for the lot. Ate at Deben*hams and snacks we had taken so not too big a hole in spends. After decluttering in January just do not want to reclutter as still lots to do.
Spent £9.25 in coop to top up with veg and bread and DS! gave me a till split £1.50 off a £10 spend which I used.
Porridge lover here and soak fruit in milk for a couple of days in the fridge which means just water needed to make it.
Planning on cooking this afternoon - big pot of soup and chinese beef curry for dinner and lamb chops (YS) defrosting for tomorrow but not sure what to do with them yet.
It's freezing here with ice in the wind - hope all are snuggly wherever you are.January 2020 Grocery challenge £119.45/£200

I'm working my way through a massive hoard of 0atso simple that I bought when it was on offer. I made a conscious effort to cut out sugar last year and got used to eating plain oats, and the 0atsos got left in the cupboard. When I started reducing my spends a few weeks ago I decided I would have to tackle the 0atso mountain, but the trouble is it's just full of sugar! I've tried sieving them, which gets rid of some of it, but it still tastes horribly sweet. Still, only about 20 boxes left to go.....
I've got rid of an old DVD recorder this week, swapped it with my neighbour for an unopened bag of cat litter :-) I must confess to buying a new DVD player to replace it, but used my Nectar points and it only cost me £1.99.Above all, I have been a sentient being, a thinking animal, on this beautiful planet, and that in itself has been an enormous privilege and adventure.Oliver Sachs 20150 -
Rosiepup - can you mix the oatsosimple with plain oats to make them more palatable? It'll take longer to use them up, but should also limit your sugar intake.0

grunnie I had an orchid given to me last Saturday as a present, but no idea how to look after it It's sitting on my kitchen window-sill as I didn't want to put it in the conservatory as its so cold out there
mirry I have a seat in my walk-in shower, and its lovely as I can relax just as much as I used to when I used to be able to get in and out of the bath,in fact its better now I have a large shower stall instead of the bath.
I had it replaced 2 years ago, and I have grab rails and always make sure I have at least one hand holding onto a rail when I'm in there.as I live alone and my joints have a tendancy to sieze up a bit at times, its been a god-send, and my two DDs know I'm safe, and won't (hopefully ) fall and be lying there.
Eldest DD wants me to have an alarm but I said no I'm not that decrepit yet:):)
I also have a stair lift which is invaluble as my house is quite old, and the stairs are very steep.
Had a great afternoon learning about will, funerals and epitaphs which sounds odd, but the speaker at U3A was very amusing and had lots of anecdotes and slides.
Just going to have some HM soup and crackers as I'm not that hungry and had a cooked snack at lunchtime .Then a bit of knitting with my trotters up:):)
have a good evening everyone

JackieO....I also had my bath ripped out 2 years ago and it was the best thing I did. I certainly don't miss cleaning it
. Getting an alarm might be a good idea if you live alone, it certainly won't hurt to think about it, they are quite discreet which is good.
I managed to spend £300 in the optitions today, so listed more on ebay frantically, lolKindness costs nothing0 -
Treated my DD at the cs shop today, she got a T@pshop wool jacket and a B@n Sherman blouse £12 for both. I don`t mind as she is returning to part-time work after 14 mths off with mouth cancer bless her. She still has no teeth and a feeding tube but hopefully they will be sorted over time. She is only 31.
Made chicken and pasta for dinner and hopefully no more spending until next week.Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.0 -
ok spending update!
Yesterday I spent £4.95 on 5 notebooks (to alter), £4.99 on a craft mag(for the freebie tool set) and 1.58 on custard donuts and choc eclairs.
Today I bought two Cornish Guardians (I'm in it ) £2.20, £12.95 getting food for work, cat food and shampoo, and then £4 getting a taxi home from work cos I was stupid enough to get halfway home and then realise I'd forgotten my phone:mad: so i had to walk back to get it.0
