I also got rid of my old zumba manuals, dont teach it anymore, reiki manuals the same, I can always do reiki if I want to, just dont need the manuals taking up space.
The only thing I can say in my defence, if I had decent recycling facilities on my doorstep like my mum has (in her back garden, Im in a flat), lots of this stuff would have been recycled long ago. But need to keep plodding on all the same
Have a good week, keep up the good work.0 -
Ahh! The good old porridge oat. I've been eating porridge for years. Not everyday but it's always there. I often swim before work, so I take a Tupperware pot with oats and seeds in and add milk and honey at work. We have a microwave. Sometimes I add fruit or nuts or yoghurt or jam. In the summer I soak oats overnight in the fridge in Apple juice. Then I add fresh berries for a refreshing breakfast. Yum.
The good thing about oats is they store easily in barrels below deck and they're great for making flapjack, crunchy ginger biscuits, crumble topping etc etc.
I'm being lazy this morning and not swimming or gymming before work. I'm very tired and premenstrual with a sore throat too. I'm 50 next year so I'm hoping the whole hormonal thing will soon be a thing of the past. Decided I didn't want to be ill over half term so I'm lying in until 7.
Hope you all have a great day.
Kind regards

I eat "zoats" most mornings. Oats and grated courgette (or zucchini, hence zoats), soaked in milk overnight with frozen fruits - raspberries, blueberries. In the morning i add a splash of cream and some chopped up nuts.
I could eat it several times a dayI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I'm another one who eats porridge with salt added, except I add a teaspoon of salt to keep my blood pressure up (hospital instructions). I even drink salt water, yum :rotfl:
Well it's turning out to be a very expensive month.....
Sons 21st, daughters 17th, spent £500 on the car, £89 dentist & today I have to buy my daughter new glasses.
I've just made £90 on ebay so that will help & have more to list.
Just wish I had more energy to tackle everything.Kindness costs nothing0 -
Another porridge person here, I just soak overnight and add some fruit. I eat it cold though as I can`t stand warm milk.
Got to shop today as need fruit and lots of bits, I have a £25 M@S voucher so I will use that up. I got £75 worth for taking out life insure which I needed anyway so bonus.
Have cut up a tablecloth I got in cs for £2 as want to make some napkins, I will get 8 good size ones so that is only 25p each. Last longer than paper towels
Still trying to declutter and finding books the hardest to let go, keep telling myself just one a week out to cs won`t hurt
Look after my nieces children overnight Mon and Tues so she can work and they are poorly with a stomach bug poor things. Hoping I don`t go down with it.
Well done everyone on the NBI shipMake £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.0 -

I too eat and cook porridge the way my late Mum (a Weegie) cooked it ,in water one cup to two and a half of water ,stir when it starts to bubble pour into a bowl sprinkle some salt over the top and pour a little cold milk around the edges ,Mmmm yummy and warms you up and keep you going until lunchtime.
My toaster has gone to the tip as it just kept popping up instead of toasting, and I only used it for tea cakes anyway occasionally as I don't eat bread.
I now have dug my old George Forman grill out of the back of the cupboard and use that and have no need for a toaster at all:):) money saved there
:)
I have my U3A monthly meeting this afternoon along with the speaker we get a cuppa and a biscuit or two so another NSD today
The good ship NBI is cruising along beautifully isn't it.
I have a large pile of ironing to do but it will get done gradually over the next few days as I have some decent films to watch on my TiVo box and will watch them whilst digging into Mount Ironmore:):)
Because of my hip and joint problems I always sit down to iron so I don't end up with a back ache I have sat to iron for well over 55 years and my children have got used to Mum sitting down at the ironing board:):) but a lot of my friends say they could never do it:) am I the only one who does it ? anyone else here, its so much easier and less stressful as well.
The weather outside is looking grey and gloomy and very damp, roll on the spring and a bit of sunshine:)
Have a good day everyone what ever you are doing

Well what a spendy month it has been so far! Mind you it has all been accounted for (we are doing up the house so have used last two years savings for this). I'm still saving though separately.
Had the hard talk with OH about the amount we spend on food. She has agreed to tighten the belt now so that's good. She does like a nice full cupboard.
Lots of decluttering going on here; I have been quite ruthless in fact. I now know where everything is and things are organised properly.
I'm also a porridge person-so lovely in the winter.
No more spending now. Will tighten the belt as we need to save up an emergency fund again! Lots to do, will crack on.

I used to have an ironing board with a seat attached back in the 70s when I first got married - it was brilliant. My mum had one too. No idea what happened to them but they've both gone - probably to the tip at some point years ago.
Now I hardly ever do any ironing - I absolutely hate it so just fold things up as they come off the line (or out of the TD if I've had to use it), smooth them down and put away.
The only time I bother getting the ironing board out now is if I'm doing some sewing and need to press seams open or similar.

Morning
Joined at the beginning of January and been reading along with you all.
I have cut my food shopping visits down to one a week and DH does the fruit top up mid week, definately saved money as we are eating out of the cupboard and freezer and only stocking up on fresh and dairy.
DH decided my old (grans, mums and then mine) dining table, chairs and welsh dresser had to go as he wanted something that didn't wobble as you sat at the table, so they have gone to the YMCA for them to sell. I felt sad but I understood, he put up with them for 25 years so we dug deep into savings and bought some new furniture and I did feel bad about spending money but sometimes, you have to. We did decorate the dining room with paint leftover from the bedroom, so money saved there.
I also ejected 4 boxes of stuff to the cs and the manager informed me it had all gone within 3 days and she got good money for them all. Pleased with that, gave me a good feeling. I picked the YMCA as I use to volunteer in the BHF and the money they wasted was unbelievable and some of the other cs seem to only want modern, very good conditioned stuff which is over priced and I wanted to help young people in society.
I have been unwell for some time and have started working 3 afternoons a week from 1pm to 6.45pm and I have a bowl of porridge just before I set off for work and I feel full all afternoons, problem is, I really don't want a half dinner when I get home!
So, rather than spend, I have done some decluttering and donating, reading, crocheting and will start some sewing again next week. It will soon be time to start seed sowing and being out in the garden. Have enjoyed my journey on the NBI ship and hope to carry on.SPC Nbr.... 1484....£800 Saved £946 in 2013)
