Hi Savingqueen
Just had a thought. If I am correct I remember you saying that the day you spent with your friend you did the driving!! So I think to be fair on you it was your petrol costs on that day!! And petrol is not cheap and something your friend did not pay for on that day!!
Little Langley our new hen is doing very well. Have lit the outdoor stove for them to huddle round and keep warm. The outdoor stove was the one we used in our kitchen before we got the one we have now. Recycled it as a BBQ and also as warmth for the hens and the ducks on really cold days. Bertie our Cockerel has had to sort a bit of pecking from the girls so he is doing his job bless him. Little Langley is sitting in the log store by our back door. I can keep an eye on her there.
Nearly forgot!! We spent £42.35 in A*dis today for our weeks shopping out of a budget of £50. Shopping included 2 bottles of wine for hubbie, 3 bags of pasta for the hens and ducks and also 3 bags of porridge for them. So well pleased with that.
Hope everyone is keeping safe in this icy weather!!
Will be thinking of you tomorrow Candy and your little pup!!!
Back to my bunk now for 40 winks as my back is so sore. Had 10 injections in it 2 months ago but they do not last long so the pain is coming back!!

I had a bit of an online spend last night on some house items that have been planned for and researched for best price, 6 items for under £40 and some of that paid for with Amazon vouchers, the rest bought on ebay as it was cheaper for the same product (trying to see the vouchers as cash, they last forever so why pay more than you have to?)
Made more cereal bars using the never-ending muesli and baking stocks, followed a flapjack recipe this time instead of making it up, this time was better if a little too sweet...
No spends planned this week apart for the grocery shop later in the week, I went on Wed last week so will try and last until Thurs, shouldn't need anything much other than fresh fruit and veg and milk, I might try and eek the bread out a bit longer by freezing some slices, we don't get through masses but we get the Aldi thick toastie stuff so you get less slices per loaf.0 -
Loving the stories about the hens, one of my rellies reckons her 25 Light Sussex are like a soap opera to watch. And the bantams and the rescue rabbits choose to cuddle up with each other at night, so sweet.
Have a day where I have about an hour at home after work before going out again, need to eat something so's I can take meds, but not much time to eat. The past month I was a bit naughty and hit up the chippy, which is £1.50 for not-a-lot, nutritionally. Today I disciplined myself not to play that game and came home to some teabread from my YS haul on Sunday. Will cook a proper supper once I get home for the second time.
Spent on YS bargains on Sunday, NSD on Monday, will be spending on my archery lesson (£10) tonight. It's a funny personal budget which has an expense line for archery, but no two people are the same, are we?
I'm sticking to my decision thus far to buy no clothes in 2015, wondering how that will pan out, but I have 5 drawerfuls and a 3ft hanging rail full and only one body, so no need.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Perhaps Grey Queen we should all have a line in our budgets for pleasure, in your case, archery.
Day 93 - One new frugal recipe per week to use up store cupboard items
So I am just about to do a frugal search for new ideas of things to eat. I have found my tastebuds aren't quite right at the moment so I am not getting quite the same amount of pleasure from food.
My problem then is just keeping the search on track rather than realising three hours later I have fifteen tabs open!Don't get it perfect - Get it goingBetter Than Before0 -

Have a look at https://www.agirlcalledjack.com for frugal recipes. I particularly like her mixed bean goulash.

SavingQueen - I would just go for making the lunch at yours next time; you were, after all, coerced into going for a meal which you hadn't planned for.
Just make it a diet friendly for your friend. There are loads of good recipes on the net.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

And in my case my hens and ducks and new little Langley!!
Just put them all to bed!! Poor little Langley did not know where to go. She waited at the back door to be let in. When she did that last night on her first day with us I picked her up and took her up to the hen hotel and settled her down next to the heater. Took us ages to get her to follow the last few hens up the garden tonight. I did want to get her in to the habit of being carried up there otherwise she would not learn the routine we have for them. She kept looking back at me as if to say "am I going in the right direction mum?". Bless her she has done really well today. It is so difficult for one hen to be introduced to the others on their own. Bless her!!!
Keep snuggly and warm everyone!!!

Obviously not doing well at the moment, someone get me back on the straight and narrow!
Today, as well as the Sky bill, I took my mum out for the meal I promised to take her out for last week. Two courses in Franky and Benny's plus drinks for a total of £20. Then I bought her a coat from DP, £35 down from £55. I have a tendency to do this (treat other people I mean) which I need to cut down on, if not cut out completely. She did need a new coat though, and she can't afford it.
Anyway, back on the straight and narrow tomorrow for the rest of the month (I hope)0 -
Sooooo excited! First over payment into mortgage for £100! Woohoo. They don't make it easy though, you have to tell them before hand and can't be more than £500 at a time and can't be more than10% of mortgage in any one year!!! But it's done and hoping it will be a regular thing.
