I found the link I posted earlier on BecomingMinimalist. http://www.becomingminimalist.com/ if anyone is interested.:)
I have found a cheaper dry cat food on Amazon as the cats seem to be turning their noses up at the one I'm buying now. It's Royal Canin so still a fairly good quality one but it's £5 cheaper.
I saw that Home Bargains sell a cheaper dog food so I might start buying it there. I mix a cheaper wet food with a good quality dry food for my dogs and they seem to be very healthy according to my vet.
I was flicking through the channels last night when I caught Celebrity Big Brother, oh no, I will be watching that from now on as it looked very dramatic.:rotfl:
I'm having peanut butter and tea for breakfast and then the leftover curry for lunch. I might just make veg sausages, mash and vegetables for dinner tonight. I haven't had mash in ages.:cool:HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

Morning all!
I'm still shopping at the market and loving it, still cooking most things from scratch - we've never eaten so well (good and bad as I've put weight on) but I'm going to have to admit to slipping overboard and swimming off to Spendy Island. Since I discovered that Homebase (with its Laura Ashley dept) is only a 20 minute walk from me, it has been like a siren calling me. And I gave in!
Home I came with a decorative wire bird (don't ask) and 2 tester pots of F&B paint to play with. Damn you Pinterest and blogland!
After I'd admired and played with said purchases the guilt set in. Then I decided to analyse why I'd bought them. Aspirational purchases coupled with a bit of boredom on my day off. The solution being - stay away from housey websites and go for a walk in the other direction!
I'm back on track now (and it could have been worse) but it was interesting to realise what my weakness is. So beware shipmates - temptation is all around us!

Morning shipmates, coming back up on deck from below, it is snowy here this morning, it looks lovely and white, but I am not going out in it unless i really have to. I did an online shop that will be delivered this lunchtime, and now the snow is here, I am so glad i did, as I live at the top of a very big hill and getting the car out and down it, is always a bit of a nerve racking time, so will not be going out until work tomorrow.
I am still reading every post, I have it emailed to me once a day so I can catch up on my phone throughout the day, but it means I do not get on here to post that often.
A couple of things to update:
Next assignment for course was submitted on 15th so have to wait to see if I have done enough, I am not entirely happy with it, but submitted anyway as I was tweaking and changing it too many times, I would have chucked away the good stuff and kept the rubbish
Had my 50th birthday on Friday and was given an amazon voucher to spend form the kind people at work, they know I did not want any fuss, so I have that sitting on my account for when I see something I would like, which is lovely, because I have been so good in not buying it, I have missed a couple of items that I would have liked, so now I can take my time and buy guilt free
So I am now officially middle aged, although I have felt this way for quite some time, I am happy to have got the day over and done with, to me it is just another day, but for some reason, other people feel I should be making a statement, going out to celebrate, spending money on nice things, when all I want is to be warm and fed, with the bills paid on time haha I think I may be a bit weird, they look at me in the most peculiar ways.
Anyway just popping in to say the below decks are shiny and dust free again, no unnecessary things hidden away and long may it continue.Been here for a long time and don't often post

Hi all
Had a run of spendy days. Needed a few essentials nappies and cat food. Unfortunatly they all come from different stores to
avail of best value.Nothing extra purchased though!
We all seem to be making great progress- onwards and upwards!
Today will be a NSD:j:jNOT BUYING IT 2018!
Consumerism is.....buying things you don't need with money you don't have to impress people you don't know and probably wouldn't like even if you did know them.0 -
Good morning all wet and very cold here in north Kent. I too am another one who would be cross if Bisto powder were to vanish as I much prefer it to g/granules.
Eldest DD is coming for her usual Sunday morning coffee, scrambled eggs and natter. Its lovely as she has so little time to switch off and just be my DD with her busy life and family, and Sunday mornings are Mum and DD time:):)
Some time later youngest DD and her OH will pick up the other wardrobe thats in my sitting room then I'll be able to vacuum and tidy up.NSD today I have a portion of lasagne from the freezer for lunch and dinner I go to my youngests house every Sunday .I'll probably make and take a lemon meringue pie with me as my contribution to dinner.I have all the makings in the cupboard and its easy peasy to knock up.
Hope everyone is warm and dry as the winter really is setting in now ,hopefully for not too long.
Have a good day chums whatever you are doing

Mr V is slimming:eek:. When I inherited him he lived on processed food.I have weaned him off and now I am gently introducing low GI foods and food he hasn't encountered before.Last night I made cauliflower base pizza.Shipmates its lovely:T
Slowdown, your son will return to the fold a man.My son cycled across Canada by himself and came home grown up.:)
I will be able to overpay £900 on the mortgage.I am very pleased with that. Will not be happening every month though.Christmas and New year are a bumper time in Mr V's work.
I have started painting a piece of the wardrobe, the prep is a bigger job than I thought. It is beautiful but been stored in damp so I have to remove a lot of the veneer, patch with polyfiller, sand then paint.

Well the hall is finished and looking lovely. I'm now searching for a desk, well a glorified table really. Ikea have loads that I like and reasonably priced too (£23 yay!), but I'm holding back as I impulse buy then regret it.
Groceries came yesterday which came to £40 and that will do us now until Friday when our month finishes. We should get cash back on the credit card towards the end of the month meaning that we will probably owe about £100 each in Feb for food and petrol. This should mean that I can save some extra cash next month.
Today I need to put a bookcase together and fill in two application forms...better get cracking.
Have a good day all.

I sold something on e@ay yesterday for £30 so that can go towards my holiday fund. I am planning on going to Italy in June, very cheaply! return flights £120 with just a carry on bag which is fine. Then hostel for ten days £175. I am happy with that will be going to be based in Pisa but will travel by train and see Florence.
Nsd for me today, son here for dinner so I will be making use of one of the Waitrose chickens. Plenty spare for soup and sandwiches etc.
Have a nice day everyone.Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.0 -
Good morning, not posted in a few days but promise I'm still very much not buying it!!
Lots of lovely and exciting posts to read, sounds like everyone has lots going on and are doing very well. I think its not a bad thing if you slip up but as long a s you realise you aren't happy you did it and realise your triggers you can now prevent it happenning again. Don't feel guilty for spending where needed or on something that's genuinely made you happy, also don't feel guilty for making mistakes.
Apart from food and necessities like petrol and elsectric the only other thing I've bought since Xmas is a bit of wool to make sons snood and fingerless gloves. Enough left to make a hat. I also have lots of other wool I am utilising ATM and have made all sorts of thongs instead of buying, feeling productive and positive.
By going to aldi twice a week and meal planning around sstocks I haven't spent more that fifty pounds a week, I have 3 children, myself and husband at home so think that's great and a massive improvement on pre not buying it. So that will be my budget now.
Admittedly I don't have much to buy except food, we drink water, milk or brews. I buy the odd fresh juice here and there to mix it up. Youngest is breastfed and I have cloth nappies. We cook and bake from scratch. Have flasks and water bottle to take out and about.
I'm really enjoying this way of life now.
I am sorting my cupboard of doom today and my seeing supplies. I have a pile if kids stuff to mend, I would definitely have chucked before reading this thread. Things have changed!!
Been using up paint to re do all the walls place is looking fresher.
Listed some things on eBay.
Decluttersx some rarely used toys to grandparents house. On a roll.
Also guess what?!!! For the first time in well ever our bins are not full, hooray for not being wasteful.
Got my first ante natal appointment tomorrow, I'm twelve weeks Wednesday so expect I'll get my scan date fairly sharpish. Feels more real suddenly, I was worried at first but now I feel we can definitely have a nice life with four children, now our priorities have been addressed. It will be lovely. I have barely any baby things to get anyway, may need a few buts of clothes but reckon I can get them of friend due in marchmy youngest is only one I have most of her stuff anyway.
