Nowhere near catching up with every post on this thread but it appears that everyone's doing well!
I bought two pairs of boots in the sales - both good buys, both what I wanted and I've been looking for well over a year! I bought them with my birthday money so I'm very pleased with my purchases. I also bought a pair of black shoes for work. I needed them as I threw the last pair out - could no longer be repaired.
Not only is this challenge good because it reduces spending - it's great because I really appreciate what I have bought. I feel so lucky to have found the footwear I wanted for great prices. Is this sad?0 -
Popping in. Very productive day in the kitchen. Made a banana and coconut loaf, flapjacks and choc chip cookies....the kids and OH are happy! Also did a chilli, curry and creamy sausage casserole for the freezer. We are having roast chicken tonight and I'm going to make some stock with the carcass in my slow cooker tonight. At the moment I have a jaffa choc pudding cooking in the slow cooker - it works a treat and is very cheap.
Managed to do my fortnightly shop for just over £80 so am happy with that.
Mostly nsd's this week apart from diesel (essential for getting to work as we live in the sticks) and a few baby vests I spied in a charity shop. 3 for 50p (M*S).
Hubby thinks Im becoming a bit obsessed with this not buying it/money saving. I have to admit it is very addictive. It will put us in good stead for my year off on Mat Leave though. Im sure he wont be complaining then.0 -
Surprising myself at how well I am doing so far this month, the only extravagance I have bought was wool to start knitting a lacy cardigan for summer, but the wool shop does a lay-by system so I can buy a couple of balls each week. Grocery wise in the past week I have spent a total of £17 in tesco, £10.50 in the fish shop and £12 in the butchers, £3 in semi chem and £2.20 in the bakers, totalling £45 this week with plenty in the cupboards still to keep us going until the end of the week.
I downloaded the crochet book set too bexter, a fantastic help to anyone learning crochet or a guide to those who can already do the basics.
The forecast is for freezing temperatures with overnight lows of minus10 tomorrow night and daytime temps of minus4 to minus6 into next week, so all chores are done for the week!Every days a School day!0 -
I have been doing quite well, I have had stuff in online baskets and decided I didn't need it. I also nipped into Boots yesterday and had a quick look at the sale stuff but there was nothing worth having.
Today DH and I nipped out to a local town, we don't usually go to, just to blow away some cobwebs and I went into a wool shop and left empty handed. in fact all I bought was a replacement whirligig cover.
I am tempted by the Marie Kondo book, but I had said I wasn't buying any more Kindle books until I had read those I have (including several decluttering books).0 -
Still laid up with this flaming cough so not been out since T hursday. DD got me four boxes of bisto on offer in asda for£1.44 a large box yesterday which is down from £2 a box, I will be miffed if they arediscontinuing powdered bisto because I hate the granules, she also picked me up another six bags of SG rice in aldi, a bargain at 49p for 500gBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Afternoon shipmates
After 19 days I've finally had to go shopping for a top upbut I only spent £7 and bought nothing for the freezer! I usually spend about £20 every 14 days.
On the plus side I managed to fit all the shopping into one bag and as a result I was able to walk home in 20 mins instead of getting 2 buses and taking 45 minutes :T
Seeing as my freezer and cupboards are still pretty full I'm going to see if I can do another long stretch before going back....I'm enjoying the challenge of using stuff up ( especially the out of date or short life stuff) and trying out new recipes.0 -
NSD day here today, and have had a satisfying and filling day using up odds and sods from the freezer and pantry, particularly necessary since it seems our house move will be quicker than expected.
Plus a trip to the tip and a sort out of the garage, quite a productive day really.0 -
