  • Hello all

a full no spend weekend for me! and OH did small shop at aldi costing £45 but fridge and freezer now full so should see us through until the end of the month other than top ups for fruit/bread/milk etc. huge vat of pasta bolognese made which will last all week for meals at work (which is about a £20 saving not buying canteen lunches)

sorted through the wardrobe today as well and have a storage box full of stuff to either ebay or sell on fb so that will go into the home improvement fund :)

and got rid of an old non-working laptop via freecyle to someone who fixes pcs for a hobby and wants them for parts, so another bit of junk gotten rid of for a good cause.

i feel like a changed woman reading this thread, and would like to thank you all! normally by this point in the month i have online baskets full of clothes on various websites ready to purchase on payday - not even looked at any clothes websites this month :)

have worked out all i'll need for the summer is some new basic vests, and new shorts - and wont need anything new between now and then.

    happy saving every body :)

Just a quick one regarding blueberries, I've tried twice unsuccessfully to grow them, it seems they are quite fussy. Have a read online as they like quite specific conditions, such as damp acidy soil, they need to be pruned annually and it's recommended to remove flowers in year 1 & 2, with 3 & 4 low cropping and 5+ high cropping.

This year I'm hoping will be the year I can get them to grow, I'll be buying three plants (apparently advisable to help them pollinate each other) and planting them in a sunken bathtub, in ericacious compost and following the instructions I've read online.

Good luck, veg growing is so rewarding :-)

    Xx

DH shoves tea towels in the drawer so it almost breaks
while loading the dishwasher tonight I rolled up all the tea towels (not properly as I have not read the book yet) but they still all managed to fit in the drawer :j

Might try to roll up the towels in the airing cupboard tomorrow and see if that frees up as much space as I hope. Have already folded all duvet covers so they fit into a matching pillowcase and it is much easier to find bedding.

Trying to decide whether to order the storage from I**a meant for pan lids so my baking trays can be stored vertically and I can find things - for a fiver it could be worth a go.

Many thanks for that tip IWAB, I have bought them from marshalls online and bought two seperate types that are larger plants, although more expensive the amount of blueberries we eat they should - if they grow! - be profitable, I know the black currants we won't get much off this year if at all, but I think these blueberry plants are second year so fingers crossed even if we get a punnet or two off the achievement will be worth it!

I can't wait to get started.

  • Suzy, let me know how you get on, I am hoping to buy some either this march or next depending on money and time x

Thank you Purpleshoes. I had a look but no voucher - but at least I know that bit of 'my account' exists now, so I can check next time :).

  • I can say with absolute certainty that I won't be doing the kon Marie decluttering technique but I do have a couple of feng shui books I might look out. Spent just short of 3 pounds today in the local shop. Just cat litter I need to buy, still got plenty food to keep me going. Will pop into aldi before the next super six runs out but will also buy from the fruit stall.

I like approved foods, saw me through many a skint time. Had the very odd minor niggle but that's all. I stopped buying from them as there's a home bargains v near me but its a great site.

Bobarella, you've made me think now about the brands in my basket. I took the brand shift challenge when we first became focused on shifting our debt but I'm sure a few have crept back in, will go and have a look through my cupboards in a minute :o

good hunting :) I am fairly certain that Lurpack and Marmite are the only two that remain now. And I've tried alternatives of both. If I had to I would change them too. But life is short...
