Thanks BB shockingly I don't know if there is an Asda near here. We have literally every other chain. So I may have to take my chances with the 25p tub....pray for me..." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Good morning shipmates!
Well today will be a spendy day for me after 5 NSDs in a row. I need new ink cartridges for my printer and a few non food bits and pieces. Also some fresh veg as used last yesterday.
Woke up at 3 this morning to a fair covering of snow:eek: but is disappearing now :j- as long as we get no more I aim to be out and about later this morning.
I'm enjoying this NBI sailing and look forward to reading your stories every day.
Bye for now.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
Morning everyone I have a whole box of books for cs (ones Am@zon don`t want
) but I am sure they will get the cs a few quid. It`s bright and sunny here today but cold, looking after son`s dog today so will go for a long walk later. Free and healthy
Made a couple of cakes yesterday I am not a good baker so I just use the cheap sponge mix (25p) from supermarket and add some fruit to the mix.
Got loads of chicken left from dinner yesterday so that will do meals for a few days.
Have a good money saying day everyoneMake £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.0 -
Today needs to be a NSD and a productive packing/cleaning day. Doing alright so far!0

Good morning shipmates ,a fairly nippy one here in north Kent.Last night coming home from DD's the roads were like glass with black ice .I was glad to be indoors and safe.I texted both of my DDs to tell them to slow down this morning as they both go to work when its still quite dark .They may be in their 40s but I still worry about them
Well yesterday when eldest DD arrived we had a good natter and nosh, and I told her about the stuff at w'rose that's apparently on offer at the moment I said I might have a ride over and see what there was available .
This is the DD who throws cash around with abandon, and is normally not bothered about spending cashand she immediatly turned to me and reminded me
"Mum you're eating up your stocks this month, so you don't NEED anything do you ." !!!
She was right, and I realised how easy it was to think 'Oh I'll just look' then before you know it you've bought even more stuff to store .So well done Shelley for stopping me spendingI'm back to normal now, so she averted my possible shoppingblip beautifully for me
Today I am definitely not shopping as
A. I want to hang on to my cash
B. I have enough in store already
C.It's too blimming cold to go out
I shall keep repeating that mantra all this week . I am going to start moving the lentil mountain today I shall make a huge vat of spicy lentil soup for lunches all this week. and may have a go at lentil pate as well.
I know I have quite a bit of diced beef in the freezer so I will probably make a large casserole in my slow cooker today as well.
lemon meringue pie was lovely yesterday so I may for a change make an apple pie today as I have sliced apple in the freezer.
Hope everyone has a good week this week.Hardest week on January for a lot of people this week.
Take care and keep wrapped up warm if possible

Weekly trip to market and cafe done
4 slices of ham and 6 chipolatas, 12.70€. That may sound high but the pigs are raised about a mile away and the slices of the home cooked ham are large so you only use half a slice per serving. The same with the chipolatas; don’t think UK chipolatas, these are just about solid meat, -you have to add fat to fry because none comes out – and I find them a very convenient way to portion my food.
Then an 8.24€ spend at the vegetable stall giving me 1 dozen eggs, clementines, sweet potatoes, cauliflower carrots and bananas for my weeks meals and for when I have a friend here for a couple of days.
Total spend 21.94€ including the 1€ for my cup of coffee.
Normally I wouldn’t need to go near a supermarket for quite a while after that but I know I will have to go and get bread and skimmed milk for my friend. So I will steel myself to get just that and that alone!
So today will be some batch cooking and tidyingRicardaRacoon wrote: »Evening shipmates!
GreyQueen I think losing weight and reducing the food bill work very well together! Kind of a double reason to not buy things. My food bill is at it's lowest when I'm trying to eat healthy.

Just a quick one regarding blueberries, I've tried twice unsuccessfully to grow them, it seems they are quite fussy. Have a read online as they like quite specific conditions, such as damp acidy soil, they need to be pruned annually and it's recommended to remove flowers in year 1 & 2, with 3 & 4 low cropping and 5+ high cropping.
This year I'm hoping will be the year I can get them to grow, I'll be buying three plants (apparently advisable to help them pollinate each other) and planting them in a sunken bathtub, in ericacious compost and following the instructions I've read online.
Good luck, veg growing is so rewarding :-)
XxMany thanks for that tip IWAB, I have bought them from marshalls online and bought two seperate types that are larger plants, although more expensive the amount of blueberries we eat they should - if they grow! - be profitable, I know the black currants we won't get much off this year if at all, but I think these blueberry plants are second year so fingers crossed even if we get a punnet or two off the achievement will be worth it!
I can't wait to get started.
I've had OK crops in the UK but I did grow them in large pots. That way they could have ericatious (hope the spelling is alright) compost as I've always been on chalky soil, and I could control the watering and move the pots into frost free areas in spring and into warmer areas in summer. No real idea on my crops as so very few of the berries ever made it back to the kitchenAiming for a Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade Budget

Have been good and bad with spending. Bad on Saturday. Popped to a town that has lots of charity shops but didnt see anyhting. DD got some books though. Popped into Wetherspoons for a drink and realised I hadnt taken anything out for tea or even thought what to have so we had tea there.
Good things were I was working yesterday so didnt spend a penny. Boyfriend made a roast dinner and mushroom soup for dinners in work so have a nice dinner today in work so dont have to go out which means no spending!
Need to go through mine and DDs clothes and see if we need any Summer items and holiday things. Got a couple of cheap vest tops and tshirts in the sales and have put them away.I have every possession I want. I have a lot of friends who have a lot more possessions. But in some cases I feel the possessions possess them, rather than the other way round0 -
Sorry haven't managed to thank everyone I read most of the thread on my phone just to keep up! On work PC at the moment it's much easier to thank and post
Fascinated by the KonMari method, have emptied a whole chest of drawers by combining, purging and rolling/folding things! Tried ranger rolling towels last night, enjoyed it so much I may do the airing cupboard tonight if I get time!
Empty chest of drawers may now be re-purposed for fabric - I reckon all my fat quarters will look lovely standing up like soldiers in colour order :T
One large bag to CS yesterday - Barnados - they said they weren't taking donations at the moment but took it anyway - is that common in January? Everyone clearing out?
Braved Primark yesterday and bought 1 Tshirt and 1 jumper (reduced from £12 to £5) which I shall wear to work lots so it's a need.
Also spent money on bus fares on Saturday for our walk, but OH bought all the snacks and I took a flask of tea. We only get a day a week together really so I view that as a necessary spend. Going to try making some flapjacks for next time as I love the M&S seed ones - how hard can it be to copy them?
Bought a chicken and some veg. in Lidl, so roast dinner last night and 7 pots of soup for work lunches for me and DD.
It's all good.
By the way, I too see the good ship NoBuy as a galleon in full sail, stately and serene. I like the picture of all the little boats following us full of "stuff", I just hope I don't fall overboard and end up in one of them :eek:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Not doing to badly with spending money. Have only spent on food and other essentials.
Been busy tidying and decluttering. Took cardboard to the tip & clothing to a charity bin in the local carpark. I had been going to take the clothing to a local charity shop but then I would have benn tempted to look at what they had and would probably have found something to buy. Good for the charity but not for me.
I did think I needed a new can of deicer for the car but when I was looking in the cupboard under the sink for something I found 2 new cans so that's some money saved.0
