So cold today, I got my warm man's size dressing gown out of the wardrobe.:p
I'm not sure if today is a no spend as we might need to get a loaf of bread. I am down to a little amount of food as we haven't been doing tops ups at the local shops as we usually do. I had porridge for breakfast but this reminded me that I should keep some tinned fruit in the cupboards to have with it. I usually eat only fresh fruit but it's handy to have some fruit that stays fresh in a tin for emergencies.:DI keep getting voucher codes and free delivery for Ocado which has some relationship with waitrose (some of the products that arrive are waitrose branded, and they have the half price offers at the moment that Waitrose have), so am using them for deliveries atm. The prices are reasonable and there are lots of offers. Just as important, they haven't yet messed up my order which all the others I have ever tried have done  No stupid substitutions, nothing missing, it arrives when it is supposed to etc. So currently I am getting a delivery from them about once a fortnight (or when they send me a discount code) and get odd bits in between, which isn't much to be honest, at Lidls or occasionally Sainsburys.
Might be worth having a look to see what they are offering? There is no reason why they would send me discount codes etc if they aren't doing it more generally.
I like Ocado for deliveries, as you say they usually have all the goods in stock so no annoying substitutions. They are fairly reasonable in price too and they gave me a free 3 month trial of their delivery which has been very helpful.:)HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

Between this thread and the No Clutter thread I’m on it’s become apparent to me that a), I’m not alone, and b) just how many of us have stuff we’ve bought and then stored all over the house that we’ve totally forgotten about. I’ve had a root around and come up with 4 bottles of concentrated washing up liquid alone.
That may not seem like much but when you realise that I dilute it – a tip from the boards here – and that I use my dishwasher to clean just about everything, that could be up to 4 years supply or more! I’ve bought it because it was on offer and because I didn’t have all the previous purchases in one place where I would have seen how much I already had.
The other ‘problem’ I have is that I am not a minimalist in any shape or form and I am probably closer to a prepper so I fight a daily battle: Half of me wanting to see the work surfaces and the other half of me wanting to survive the nuclear winter!!!:rotfl:
Not sure how to integrate these two states but loving the journey on these threads. Thanks for all the sharing, encouragement and laughs too. :TAiming for a Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade Budget

Overdraft PAID OFF
CC PAID OFFGC Sept £141.17/2000 -
Trapped at home with poorly DD, so going to make myself get busy on the decluttering front.
I've been going through this process since October and it still looks crazy in here! I'm really interested in the fact charity shops might be turning down donations at this time of year. We've got a row of several on the main street, so hoping I'll be able to offload a few bags at the weekend.
I'm also going to list some books. I used the Amazon trade-in a lot last year, and I've also done well selling on there in the past. I'm going to have a look at prices and decide which way to go.0 -
Good morning shipmates ,not even going to stick my head out of the porthole today as the weather looks far too cold. I shall spend the morning cooking I think as it does two things .Helps to use up some of my stocks, plus warms the kitchen up
I am making a big pot of veggie curry from some veg in the freezer. Also I want to bake some melting moments biscuits as the biscuit tin is looking a bit bare
Yesterday I made 3 litre's of spicy lentil soup to help move my veggie mountain.
My shopping list only has cucumber & eggs on it, and I have 3 eggs in the fridge, so the shopping can wait until Friday I think. No point getting tempted:):)
Have a good day chums what ever you are doing and keep wrapped up warm its perishing outside:):)

Morning everyone.
Suki1964 I`m 60 and still don`t feel grown up
Been at nieces house overnight I look after her children two nights a week, she works nights and is single parent so it helps her out. The twins are 12 and older one is 15 so its just a matter of being there really.
Got some basics last night yogurt, fruit and veg and some cream eggs for the kids.
Got a beef cass in the slow cooker and going to spend the rest of the day being lazy. That means comping and reading in my world.
Have a nice thrifty day everyone.Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.0 -
Darn it, I hit 50 in August and I still act like a teen. And sometimes think like one when it comes to " real life"
x
This strikes a chord with me, yes the years certainly roll by and far too fast. If it is any consolation, 50 was the very best age ever, the best time of my life. More confidence, children grown and independent, mortgage almost paid off, health still good.
The 60 decade started good, in the same vein as 50 but now heading into 70 is a different matter when life became more fragile and aches and pains manifested and strength ebbs. The trick is to go with the flow, youth will never come back so whatever age just has to be accepted as it comes. I have bought the book for my kindle called `sod seventy` and that is how I intend to get through the next 2 decades
I am still sorting and getting more order and space into my house, subconsciously thinking of `what if`. Yesterday did ranger rolling of all my t towels dusters and kitchen cloths, very satisfying result too (konmarie thread). Delivered 3 boxes of books to the po for amazon and a pile of good things for the cs including lots of yankee tarts, dh cannot tolerate the oils as they affect his breathing. Loads of perfumed candles are also packed and ready for dd birthdays, as well as a fantastic large norwegian glass lantern for each dd. So still a bit at a time and I am starting to look around and am happy that now some areas are already easy for that `what if` scenario that comes to us all0 -
I just had a check of our joint account and my current account - the last payment from the joint account came out a week ago, and from my own account last Monday, and that was for petrol! I have £40 in my purse that has stayed in its existing state when it went in god knows when, I loathe to break into it!
OK, it helps that it's not 'bills' time of the month but it's a good achievement in my eyes. This will be broken as I need to do a shop tonight (and nip to the library) and next week is going to be a relatively spendy one for one reason or another, but I'm enjoying this while it lasts!0 -

I have JUST the same problem LOL. Also a genetic tendency to keep broken washing machines in my garage 'just in case'. (Thanks Dad.)0 -
Afternoon everyone - I hope you are all keeping warm. Today was the first unbearably cold day of the year in Surrey - things are still covered in a thick layer of frost even with the winter sun out so I have decided to have a NSD because I don't fancy the walk into town so pick up some semi-essentials.
I sold my old N!ntendo DS lite with some games on eb@y last night and got more than I expected for it so I will brave the trip to the post office tomorrow to send that off.
DH and I stocked up on freezer bits last night in S'burys which came to £14 which wasn't too bad as we got quite a few things and we hadn't got much in the freezer at the time apart from frozen fruit which DH made a delicious smoothie with the other day
I still have 10 days until payday which will make it 6 weeks since my last - surprised that we actually have money left!
Currently waiting in for someone to finally repair our washing machine -wish us luck!0
