I sold my old N!ntendo DS lite with some games on eb@y last night and got more than I expected for it so I will brave the trip to the post office tomorrow to send that off.

ohhh ds lite, I forgot about mine. Me and dh have one each and we sit in our recliners and play scrabble on them, must get them out later.

Hope everyone's keeping warm today on the high seas. I'm sitting in a thermal vest, a long sleeved top,a body warmer and a hoody :rotfl:
After only food spends this month, I have now ordered a new tumble dryer for £165. I usually dry clothes on a heated clothes horse with a dehumidifier. But really miss having a tumble dryer as a back up for large loads.

Today's efforts, made a steamed blueberry pudding in the slow cooker with my sons help. Some comfort food for a cold day despite needing to loose weight :o
    Kindness costs nothing :)
  • Hello all.
Thanks for all the advice re waitrose. I gave it a go today and loved it and I don't think it was any more expensive than tesco but I'll put my receipt into my supermarket later out if interest, though I can afford what I spent so it will make no difference as I want to avoid the supermarkets. Next week I'm going to try a local vegan co operative. Its actually a great place I've only been once without a list and spent a fortune ha.but i will have my plan and list this time. Its actually a great place in chorlton Manchester for anyone nearby. Its called unicorn and it sells all organic stuff and vegan foods as well as loads of dry goods, they own farms as well, if its not too expensive I would like to make use of them going forward with perhaps fortnightly ocado deliveries for frozen and dairy. We eat veggie but can't leap to vegan I'm afraid.

Payday today and I've paid some bills, paid some money off our overdraft (will be gone next month hooray), got a weeks shop and feeling content.
No desire to buy anything else except a larger crochet hook at some point though there is no rush right now, we have a little treattreats budget so we can take kids to the matinee cinema at weekend or swimming etc. This month we have trips to eureka children's museum and think tank Birmingham as part of home Ed groups and next month we've got cheap entry to Chester zoo with another home Ed group. So they get lots of treats and fun time really, that's important to me to prioritise that as I want to give them fun childhoods and not have them look back thinking it was miserable because we were poor! I want a good balance where life is fullfillingilli but they learn from eexample to be responsible with money.

Ive been through their wardrobes and all is well, had a few things to fix son did, i think we will be fine clothes wise until it gets warm. I plan on getting as much as possible from charity shops and car boots, and a few things from more ethical stores such as John lewis or frugi. I can pass their clothes down too, and if I streamline what they have and take good care of it they really don't need as much stuff, which makes me think again that if you are mindful and not wasteful you can afford quality.

I keep getting voucher codes and free delivery for Ocado which has some relationship with waitrose (some of the products that arrive are waitrose branded.

Ocado is only a delivery company. Waitrose contract them to carry out their home deliveries!! Sainsbob and Mr T run their own delivery service!!

I hope this info is useful!!

Okay, this is a bit embarrassing, but I,ve just 'audited' my bank account.

Prior to Dec payday I was £500 OD, the most i,ve been overdrawn in years, but 3/4 of the way through Jan and I am just over £500 in credit, taking into consideration all of my outgoings till the end of the month, I should still be +£200

This is due to this thread really, I have not spent anything apart from the basics - so thank you all for inspiring me to keep my hand on my purse :)
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

    £300/£130

That's fantastic Islandmaid...just think how much you are going to be saving over time!!! Well done!
Unfortunately , my income is so low and even with everything reduced , I have estimated that it will take me 300 years to pay off my debts!!!... Sticking with it though, manage my own DR and only paying £1 per month to each creditor just to survive. Been doing this for 2 years now and am really struggling working 25 hrs a week and looking for more. Trying to keep positive and scrimp and save. But it is hard when you are on minimum wage.

    Tell me this isn't so!!!!

Darn it, I hit 50 in August and I still act like a teen. And sometimes think like one when it comes to " real life"

Real life still scares me. There I am, 50 plus and I'm still struggling to make good choices. When do we become adult? When I was a kid, adults knew it all, I'm kind of still getting all this s**t together! sometimes failing badly

Islandmaid. Def not to be embarrassed about. I think they call this a light bulb moment LBM on other parts of the forum. You should be well pleased! NSD here for past three days which is good. Also helped save my dad some money by taking up his jeans 2 inches. Mum donated to me a king size duvet cover brand new for fabric. But it was too lovely to destroy so converted it yo a double duvet cover :T

Sounds like all is going well. 9 days till payday for me but only a big of lidl shopping to do this week so all good

    Bexster :)

    Not strictly accurate.

Waitrose have their own delivery service.

They also have a contract to supply Ocado with Waitrose-branded goods. As do Carrefour. Ocado also sell named brands.
  • Evening shipmates. A NSD for me today. Have the opportunity for a night out tomorrow but it won't be a big spend. Have sorted some jumble, used leftovers for lunch and freezer mining for dinner. Have decided to replace straps on my PVC aprons The PVC is still good though.
