Hadn't thought of that but it's a massive thing, nearly 2 x A4 pages and if it were laminated it wouldn't fit into the envelopes
Once I get the new ones, it will be gracefully retired to the genealogy file along with my 'Birth of an Alien' certificate, one of the joys of being born abroad. :rotfl:
I'm reading along and just thought it might be useful to know that, in the UK at any rate, laminated documents are apparently not acceptable because the paper etc can't be examined properly to make sure the document is genuine. I was surprised when I read that (it was in another thread on MSE a while ago) but I suppose it makes sense.
I think I'd better come aboard myself, please - just taken out a pre-payment funeral plan, to be paid over 5 years, (perhaps I'll call it 60 months, it sounds slightly less scary!) and have only a small pension from my work - I'm 61, and will get some State pension when I'm 64-and-a-bit. The food shopping usually comes out of OH's pensions, so it's just things like clothes (certainly won't need any new ones for a while) and "bits and pieces" that come out of mine, plus I pay the TV licence and the water rates. I'll probably need new glasses in the next few months, but am trying not to think about that, as mine always cost several hundred pounds because of the lenses I need :eek:0 -
Evening everyone
I had a good laugh on the train in the morning when I read how some of you imagine the ship. I like the idea with all the small boats with the clutter. No wonder our ship is so quick, with all the decluttering going on it is getting lighter and lighter!
I also like the fact that there is no right or wrong here and we all have the same goal but different ways of reaching them.
I did my groceries round and was once more surprised by how little I've spent. And half of the spend was for a kilo of lean mince. My SM only has the normal one most days, so when I see that they have lean one I buy a pack or two for the freezer.
So will only need to buy a few fresh things on Saturday and then everything is set till Thursday next week.
starsandmoon a colleague at work told lately that her kids who are seven and nine have their own tablet each for more than two years now. Really don't see what a five year old needs a tablet for, but apparently you can't keep up with the other kids nowdays when you don't have one...
GQ, of course you ran out of the cinema to buy a few cards. Who wouldn't after all that catching adds shown there...!
I'm really annoyed of all the adds on youtube at the moment. Most of them are for baby milk and stuff, I've no idea why they think that I might need it.
I need to start thinking about birthday cards and presents as the first bdays of the year are coming up in February and March. I decided to make all cards myself, so will need to start as then there are four bdays in a month and in case I want to stitch the cards it is high time to get it started.
Plus will do some presents myself if possible. Might have a look into my sewing books, I have so many fabric, I could easily cobble something together without having to buy much and at the same time using up some stocks.Fashion on the Ration 2022: 5/66 coupons used: yarn for summer top 5 /

Good evening. I am just about managing to keep up with the thread. Apologies if I don't thank you post, I frequently find I have 5 pages to do when I am away for 24 hours! Only Lidl spend here today £16.50 including some very cheerful looking primulas ( which will stay indoors until the risk of being blown away subsides) a bit of a naughty charity shop buy yesterday of 6 books for £3.50 ( in my defence I got one for my dad). Really don't need any books but at 50p each for most it was rude not to! Plus I was celebrating my first walk out of the house unchaperoned in well over a month! The tablets I am on are very good whilst I await next consultants appointment. All sorted now and no spending until next Thursday when I go shopping again. Two weeks till payday and after some big bills coming out I will still make it, with change to spare! Hope everyone is keeping safe in the weather, off to get a hot chocolate ready before Death in Paradise...

Evening everyone
After reading the last few pages I think I must be odd...I've never shopped in Boots never mind looked in their salesonly time I've gone in is if my normal chemist didn't have my tablets .
Me too. In fact I didn't know ther had 70% off sales. I don't hoard toiletries and have never bought gift packs for me or presents though my friend who I shop with does and I have been telling her for ages its false economy because she doesn't use half the stuff in the packs. I think the penny has just dropped.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0 -
Evening:D Still tootling about freecycling a few bits and decluttering a few more clothes. One necklace I don't wear but like the pendant has been repurposed to go onto my car keyring so if I ever lose them there's something to identify them by.
Only bought fruit and some YS mince this week. More knitting done and have been running a couple of times to prep for the 4mile race I've signed up for. Have just managed the distance for the first time this week so it's given me something to work towards.
Lots of other good fun but non spendy things coming up. Off to see a chum's new pup next week and another lot of wassailing/mooris dancing for which we get free drinks. In my case soft as am still on the wagon. I'm going to try this recipe this week as already have red wine vinegar in the cupboard. http://agirlcalledjack.com/2015/01/06/vt-or-vinegar-tonic-5p-its-dry-january-everyone/

Evening everyone
Still trying not too spend too much if anything not brought anything all week apart from birthday card last week managed 5 NSDS should be same this week.
Still de cluttering too I still haven't put photos candles bits and pieces back out since I took Xmas decs down, I have promised myself not too clutter everywhere too much just trying to find few selective pieces from my large hoard of clutter some will go to charity some I will keep to swap round monthly just have to be strict with my self.
Definetly not going near boots 70% sale or any other sale.
Just need to finish downsizing my wardrobe finding it hard as have to look smart for work so have to keep quite a few choices for work as well as rest of week wear ideally would like to get down to 40 pieces in each to start with.
Been spending all my free time reading downsizing and minimalist blogs.
Have good evening everyoneFrugal challenge 2025

I have decluttered lots on my mission to pack 5 boxes of stuff today, as it's looking like we will be moving quicker than expected and I have lots to pack! I did buy a preloved dressing table for DD, but I sold a shelf unit for the same price so that counts as not buying in my book!0

I dont shop in boots either, the only time Im ever in there is if I fancy having a quick squirt of their tester perfumes.
Much prefer superdrug.0 -
Ive spent about £5 today, on cat litter and biscuits, paid more for the litter than I would have in the supermarket but figured it would even out as I wouldnt be tempted to buy extra stuff as prices in the corner shops are so high.
I also had a good start to my classes for this year. They are always up and down and in the months before christmas were just breaking even, but I had a great turnout tonight, I have a tiny hall but its cheap to rent but it hit double figures and some people did the double class. Then I went to a bootcamp and got suitably tortured.
I'll probably have a splurge on pineapples as Im not allowed to eat junk while Im on this bootcamp.0 -
