Well, at least you know why that man is a POS. Nature vs nurture. :D

In this case, isn't it Nature and Nuture?

Why the criticism of the OP's daughter?

19 year old girls often confide in their Mum about issues in their lives, including problems with boyfriends. That is a good, normal and healthy thing to do.

19 year old boys rarely confide in their Mum about issues in their lives, especially those involving girlfriends. That is a pity but it is human nature.

The only odd thing here is the extraordinary reaction of the boy's mother, if indeed it was her that sent those messages. It is more likely to be the boy himself.

The best thing to do is to block the boy and his mother and ignore him and her. If the messages persist or the situation escalates, then the police should be involved. I'm not sure if the college can or should do anything, unless it overspills onto college concerns.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

I'm always there for my daughter, she can have a good old moan to me anytime she wants. It's what families do, well, this one does anyway. But to send anyone an abusive message is just not on. The only reason I knew she'd got the message was because I was sitting in the same room as her when it came through and she was shocked, I don't think she knew what to make of it, neither do I to be honest.

From what she can gather it's not the first time his mother has had a go at someone for him. She's told my daughter there's going to be big f******g trouble if she so much as f*****g looks at her son. Nice family.

My daughter knows she's had a lucky escape, also a valuable lesson learnt I think.

Definitely a lucky escape, they sound like a right family of charmers!

My ex(thank goodness!) MIL called my parents from a different continent to scream at them about how unreasonable I was being in thinking my husband should get a job. (Her logic was that as he wasn't working when we got married, I'd accepted that he wasn't ever going to work. The fact that that was because we'd just graduated was lost on her). But I digress..... point is, there are some weird mothers out there! Far better for her to have found this out now. Hope she's doing ok today x.

    There are.

But I don't think I'd give the other gender a whiter than white reputation if you want to generalise in such a strange way.

There's a fair share of women players, but I should imagine men count for a hell of a lot (only have to read on here sometimes and it's men that leave/ cheat etc. women can be just as bad, but I'd say it's mainly men

Be interesting to hear what lesson she learnt.

What were the signs she missed that will put her on alert when embarking on future relationships?
  • I'd block both from Facebook and both mobile numbers too. It's not acceptable, sadly too many male players about

More than a few female also.

Little boys run to their Mummies -she's well rid.

Shame she has to see him at college but encourage her to keep her dignity and not kick off at him but just ignore him utterly as not worth the bother. If anyone asks she can tell them she mistook him for a grown up and say nothing more. If there is group work involved she can ask her lecturers (privately) to not put them in the same group.

I agree he's probably spun his mother a lot of nonsense.

Yes, and so do little girls.

Fully agree with the rest of the post.

All seemed well, he's been here a few times and seemed ok, a couple of little things that I couldn't put my finger on but kept out of it.

A few things set fin's radar pinging - a discussion about these might help her daughter to notice similar stuff in future relationships.
