Other airlines - i.e. the budget carriers - charge for water.

Incorrect; Easyjet gives you a free glass of water when specifically asking for TAP water.

In Dublin Airport for example, they have bottled water 750mls at a stand on an honesty basis, €1. I have to say I thought that was really good thinking. And everyone put their euro in the box, well as far as I could see anyway!

However....I buy the multi travel bottles, you know the ones for decanting your fave stuff in... and fill the larger ones with water before leaving and put in the little plastic ziploc. I find once you have water, you don't need it too much, it's in the head sometimes! And you get through security with them aswell!

And when I didn't have water, and needed to take a tablet for example, I asked the crew if I could have a small cup of water to take the tabs. Never a problem.
