Generations have drank stored, tank water with out harm.
Show me one incident in the last 50 years of anyone dying from stored water ?0 -
A friend of mine had leukaemia around 10 years ago. She has now been in remission for over 5 years. When I'll and undergoing chemo, she was allowed to drink tap water but not bottled water. That really surprised me. Something to do with additives in bottled water.0

Some airline tap water has throughout the years found to have been contaminated with Ecoli and other potentially harmful bacteria. I would rather minimize the risk by drinking bottled water.0

I think it's inadvisable to drink tap water in some parts of the world. Not because of poor hygiene (although that would be something to consider in some areas) but because different water contains different levels of dissolved salts and minerals. If you're not used to them you could end up with a tummy upset and who wants that when travelling.0 -

Some of us not only avoid actions that will result in our death, but also avoid actions that could make us ill...
You could down "tap" water every flight you take for your whole life and be completely fine - just like you can smoke your whole life and never develop cancer. However, testing has found bacteria such as E.coli, to be present in the water tanks of many planes in dangerous levels. Why risk drinking it?0 -
I will still pay my 3 euro for my 2/3 5 litres of bottled water when I go on holiday but refuse to pay for the vastly over priced water at the airport0

More likely the lack of additives, namely chlorine that keeps the bacterial levels low. Once a bottle of mineral water has been opened things are free to breed in their to their hearts content.
Guess there is a small chance of them being concerned about the chemicals in the plastic that have been reported to cause cancers and other nasties but dont see the connection with someone undergoing chemo0 -
I just wondered if this applied to Airline companies such as Ryanair and Easyjet? I know they are British companies
Ryanair isn't a British company.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
The water in the tanks of most aircraft is called Potable water, so fit for human consumption. Don't get it from the toilet sink though as the taps will have a vast selection of bacteria on them. Ask the crew for a glass of potable water, if only to see the look on their faces
