Oh my!!Howwwwwwwwwwww many days to go??:j:j:j

A few months ago, while sorting out a kitchen drawer,I found a couple of envelopes containing different (small-ish) amounts of cash-I know one was a refund for a school activity my daughter couldn't go to,another might be lunch money that was never used.......Then last month a friend paid me for some tickets I bought for her-she gave me the money for them in an envelope.I decided to add it to my "money envelope collection",and these envelopes I would use to fill my pot for the last few days of the challenge. So I have found 3 envelopes-the envelope I opened just now contained the £6 refund from school,it is now potted: a £5 note, and a shiny £1 coin :j.I will open and pot another envelope tomorrow (Tuesday) and the third on Wednesday.
    It's just like a lucky-dip :D.

  • Hi I think I asked to join but on a different thread reminding people about the counting date.
I've sorted my pot tonight, I was looking to use an old biscuit tin but I can't find one. So I've got one of those tall thin plastic cereal containers that's missing its lid so I've made a lid and sealed it with duct tape, I've put whatever change I've managed to find and a load of copper I had hanging around.
I'm going to save all 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p that I have in change in my purse.
If I'm feeling flush I'll put in 20p's as well.
I'm also going to add in any lottery wins I get (unless they are really big then I might just put them in the bank :D )

I'm hoping to save at least £200 which will probably go towards next christmas.

  • Sorry been away for a while trying to organise ours and parents finances. Now moving in to their house to help them to pay bills. Have been potting still none the less. My current pot is only half full so gonna wait to open.
2016 was both financially and emotionally. 2017 will be our year.
  • Potting has slowed down :( I've been bulking buying items on sale to take back to the family for Christmas. As they live in a small country town everything is expensive and limited. I've still managed to pot some shrapnel though :) and when I get the money back I can pot it for next year :)
    Number 495 :)

Ahh, it's so good to see you back, jakes-mum, I can't remember the last time it was so quiet!!!! :rotfl: What a GREAT surprise for the youngsters! You take good care of that ear, maybe the flights played on your earlier troubles with it; anyway, I hope it's soon fine again. Don't worry too much about my DH, he's struggling but we're using hot water bottles to help. BTW. There won't be any gold stars issued at this stage, darn it woman, tis only Monday!!!!!

 Sue and Lynne! don't think its me that makes all the noise! I had 10 pages of comments to catch up on yesterday, took me all day to read everyones comments :rotfl:

I am halfway through, just got to finish it, was in such a state yesterday, didn't even get over to my mums to pick up the bird! he must think we've abandoned him with some mad woman that keeps talking to him :D Good news is that there is actually a gap between the walls of my ear today :j so looks like I wont have to take the icky tablets :D

BTW its now 2 DAYS TO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Do I get a star now? think this is the longest i've ever held out! I keep reminding DH that its 2 DAYS TO GOOOOOOOOOOOO! he just keeps rolling his eyes at me! pfft, no money counting for him on thursday (like I let him help anyway, he gets to sit next to me and watch, but if he isn't careful, i'll make him sit in the hall while I count it all on my own :D)

I must find some change today! I do have a couple of £1 coins, they might have to go in as I have no other change! I potted it all yesterday . . oh and I managed to come back from my hols with 370 euros :j, safely tucked away for next time :D

That's wonderful to hear, Dizzy Imp, but don't forget....as you're a member you can save right now! This time next year you'll be even more ecstatic!!! :j

Ah, that's different, jakes-mum, can't think of a reason right now, but I will!! Stop and think about the time you've gone for in the past as this year...........POD day (as Lynne says) is a LOT earlier for starters so you can easily hang on this time round!!!!! :rotfl: Keep that ear warm! My DH keeps rolling his eyes at my sudden exclamations too! No, that sort!!!!

Another £10er in the pot for me....whooppeeeeee!!!!!! :j
Have a great Tuesday, Potters, and remember.......just 2  days to go!!!

    Sue xx

  • Sue, I have my final total in my signature now. Wow a total of £415! Not potting any more on the "2015" pot. The 2016 pot is sealed and waiting. I have put in a pound to start it off. It looked so empty :-)

I already purchased something with the money I saved. I got some gold jewellery. I think I can enjoy wearing it now and it will always be a good investment for the future. I would feel really guilty buying it with money from the bank account.

Thanks Sue and all the others for your encouragement. Please count me in for the next challenge.
