Very many thanks to you both, jakes-mum, and you, Lynne. Yes, I realise the posts overlapped, but both your welcomes were so thorough and really friendly, how could I not reward you both with a shiny gold star. Thanks so much girls, though will you take an IOU. :-(

Good afternoon all Potters! I hope you all enjoyed a splendid weekend, a good Monday and now Tuesday too. :D Sorry not have been here yesterday, but DH has been in a great deal of pain with his hip, me with other problems. I can’t find out yet as Hubby’s unable to drive. I hope everyone is well, but if not and you’d feel better with a hug then here are special {{{Hugs}}} just for you, and take good care of yourselves.

OK folks, anyone aware that there are only 3 weeks and a couple of days left until the 5th?!!!! Yes, I know, you’ve probably all been counting down more than me!

Well, having a little more inside information, scotmumof3, you should obviously know better...and be right!!! I hope you do brilliantly and are chuffed to bits with your savings! I love the sound of that cheeky wee £5er in your pot!

WOW 32b3! I hope your bonus is as good as it sounds! Doesn’t the word itself always give high expectations. I know you’ll keep a sensible head and not have great thoughts, but.......!

Very many thanks, Lynne, he’s not so good today though and is back on all the painkillers he was given originally. I did warn him though as the op was only done 2 weeks ago tomorrow and the Dr told him to take them (7 per day) for a fortnight and he stopped on Sunday!! BTW. Brilliant news about your £25 lottery win, just the job!!!

That’s fantastic potting, stormpassing!! It’s great to hear you’re getting such inspiration in reading the posts, that’s why we love it when folk participate in sharing the daily (or otherwise) savings as it’s so encouraging to others as well as them! Ah, how very kind of that lovely chap letting you have his £1!! Random acts of kindness indeed!!

Oh dear, TheCatsandDogsMother, how unlucky for you with having to pay out for another charger. Bless your pup!

It’s good to hear you’re so thrilled to bits with your overlocker, jakes-mum, just look at the marvellous things you’re churning out! Keep it up!!

Why not make the effort to check in a little more often, findingmyfeet, most of us definitely find it encourages us to save far more when we come and let folk know what we’ve saved
and, in turn, it also encourages us all! Give it a try and see how you go. Right now, I’ll look forward to you giving it a final push to do all you can – I’m sure you will!!

Every penny adds up, Kerry! No need to tell you that for sure....and for the savings in your latest post.

£16.00+ of my money went into the pot today.
Also my partner left his change here
and said I could put it in my jar that came to about £3.01.

So £20 went into my jar today.
I have £5 in my purse made up of pound coins & change for emergencies

I see you’re well intent on saving whenever possible, Moonbeam, OH too, good for the pair of you!

Some good savings, Westie! PS. Fantastic news about your scratch card win – YAY indeed!!!!!!

You’re most welcome, TheDapster, it only took a few seconds. All the best with your overlocker, I hope you get plenty from it. No doubt you’ll have a fair bit stashed in your pot too, it sounds as though you’ve saved well so it’ll be great to find out! PS. I’ve just seen your latest post about you having bought your overlocker – well done and have some great fun with it!!
I am still here potting coins, l almost forgot it finished in November!

hope all is well with folks XXX

Hello there, Buffy, it’s fantastic to see you!!!! You almost forgot it finishes in November??!!!!! It’s high time you were on that naughty step and writing out “I must NOT forget that SPC closes on the 5th November!” 500 times? No, you’re right, I’m far too sweet. Tis time you were here more often though as it’s always lovely to see you.

I've been paying with a card to build up cashback. Please don't smack my hand Sue. I am still potting whatever I can get my hands on.[/quote]

Now, would I ever do such a thing, Modesty?! Yep, guess so, but I’ll let you off this time. I can understand how you’d want to build up some cashback to help you, I don’t blame you either as either way it’s still saving. You do it the best way you for you at the time, I know you still get to save in the pot anyway so don’t worry yourself. I hope your Hubby’s doing well and recovering as he should be?

Hello Frogletina, it’s good to see you. I hope you had a lovely time. Good wishes with your pots, sounds like you’re doing really well.

My sister gave me £100 extra towards a loan (£100 more than normal not £100 on top lol) and my mum paid me £7 back for a book i got her. She also paid for mine and the OH's christmas dinners so i'm going to put it all into my holding pot which is currently at about £300.

The good news is the money for my phone won't come out until the middle of November so i won't need to break into my pot early woop woop!!

24 Days until Count-Up Day!! (I don't think it's too early to start counting yet is it?) [/quote]

No, not too early at all, Ruth, you count down whenever you wish! Brilliant news at you NOT having to open up any earlier, and.......a £300 holding pot???!!!!!!! Can’t we tell opening up day’s getting so close!!

    Well done, Chutney!!

That’s marvellous news, SpirallingDown!!! Thanks for popping it on your siggy, don’t forget to declare the entire amount on or around the 5th!

You go for it, siju, and good luck with hopefully having got the extra!

It ain’t gonna be long, mossy, so rattle away for the next 3 weeks or so!!!

I've just reached my YouGov 5,000 points and am so chuffed, but the £50 I'm owed - I will receive in.....4 weeks. So, maybe it'll be here for SPC 8, maybe it'll need to be added to SPC 9. Ah well, time'll tell and I'll be happy either way. [shrug of shoulders]

BTW. I'm having to use IE instead of Firefox and, for some pathetic reason, I can't "thank" you all, can't do the quotes properly - and can only use ONE flippin smilie! It was afternoon when I started!!! >:-I [furious face]
Goodnight, folks, have a great Wednesday and keep filling those pots!

    Sue xx

Oh, believe me, 32b3, absolutely nobody's "thanks" to me goes unnoticed as I still go on reading all the posts [vane bu**er really you see ;-)] just in case folk ask me questions. I have helpers though, and a lot of credit goes to them, you included! :-) BTW, I don't remember each single post as I reply, I always bookmark where I last left off. Next time on I reply on an e-mail to mostly all of you; not always all or I'd go ruddy stir-crazy!! ROTFL :-))))))))) Thanks so much for your lovely words xx

I am madly in love with my Overlocker Sue-UU, DH is now grunting about buying me an embroidery machine to go with it :D:D they are only *cough* £3k *cough* I could get one that looks like a sewing machine for about £800, but . . . well . . . i'd rather have the all singing all dancing, multi thread one :rotfl:

Oh, as an aside, my Nana had her knee done (I think it was a replacement, but don't quote me on it!) and putting heat on it, like a hot water bottle really helped with the pain, so don't know if that would help your DH's hip? I could always send him one of my super duper rice packs for the microwave if he wants one :D

40p in the pot last night, theres still room! I will cram more coins in there! Also had a nice post yesterday from my insurance people of £65 in amazon vouchers for switching to them :D, they were already the cheapest insurer so the vouchers were a bonus in my eyes :D so that will be a couple of extra free christmas prezzies. Must also remove my next bit of cashback from quidc0 so its cleared and can be potted before count up day!

  • Hello!
I've done a little bit of potting, and collected some cash bags from the bank, and I've played with my new overlocker and made some catnip bags which my cats love (I have 3) and now I'm looking for other things to make :rotfl:
I made a rice bag but I'm using it as a doorstop!
Jakes-mum I'd love an embroidery machine too - and I'd quite like a sewing machine that works too, I think mine's died :(
But I'm at work at the moment so I'd better get back to it.
    Cheers all

Thats the same problem my DH had with his ankle, I couldn't make him one with wheat in as DS is a coeliac so I didn't want to take the risk of loose wheat grains in the house.

The rice ones (according to the internet) can be heated (stay warm for about an hour) and put in the freezer as an icepack! You can also make them with linseed which takes longer to heat but stay warm longer as well, as I have to take linseed every morning, I might try making one with some of that just to see which is better, though linseed is more expensive than value rice.

I thought it would cook the rice as well, and my house did smell like rice pudding the first time we heated it, but I suppose as there is no water involved in the heating, your just drying it out more? I'm not sure if the rice pudding smell was because it was the first time we had warmed it or because I put it in for 90 seconds and that was BOILING when it came out, 60 secs is more than sufficient :o
