Mmmmm hummingbird, I should jolly well think Westie would have chastised you for failing in your pot duties. :naughty: Anyway, as you've noticed, you've still time left to pot as much as possible....so get cracking (as I see you really are, excellent! :j) and you won't be too disappointed at having forgotten about it. You did do well last year so when we start up again on the 6th Nov...pledge to do better next time round! You'll get there! ;)

Does that mean I can kick some booty if she doesnt keep up, stand behind her and shout encouraging words at her :-)

    2 x £2 coins in the pot today :)

Went christmas shopping with DH today :santa2: and apart from 2 presents (one of which isn't being released until 2 weeks time, the other i'm trying to get as cheap as possible) I have completely finished DD's presents for under the tree AND it seems I may have a few for her birthday as well :D This is why I love her birthday being just after xmas, I can go a bit over board and split it between the two :rotfl:
Am also a fair way into DS's under the tree presents, he was ever so helpful with his list . . . 'Fifa 16 ultimate edition and . . . I dunno . . . other stuff' *sigh*, well he's got quite a bit of clothes and as of yet, between the two of them, i've spent NOTHING!! :j :j :j have also sorted both parents, my sister and half of DH which has also cost me nowt :D:D I do love chrstmas for free :rotfl:

A very good morning to you all. DH had his triple bypass yesterday morning and was still 'out of it' when I saw him last night. BUT, I've just been able to speak to him on the phone and will be able to see him this afternoon. So Happy. :j

Back on topic, I have managed to pot a few pence here and there over the last week. :)

Sue, I hope your DD's meds will help her. Hugs to you and family. :grouphug:

Will you be doing the giving tree this year?

I actually bought my first present for the tree a couple of weeks ago as Mr T had their pirate playsets reduced down to £4 :D am keeping my eye out for other bargains to add to it as I do like to take a pile down to the tree. Thinking about it, had better start collecting supermarket carrier bags before they start charging me, to put them all in as they each need a bag to tie the label too.

Talking of Mr T, had a bit of a result yesterday as I bought 2 of the double battery packs for the kids Xbox controllers and they were marked up at £8 each, went through the till at £12.50 so with double the difference each pack cost me £3.50 :j :j

anyway, 2 x £2 coins in the tin and I think ive got a bit of schrapnel for the other tin aswell.

    Very organised.

The giving tree I did last year, which was run by the local police was done differently. When I emailed them originally, I told them how many kids I would buy for and then went out and bought toys for that many kids on the same day. in the meantime, they responded to the email with the sex, age and gift of choice for each child. They actually asked the kids what they wanted. I ended up with loads of toys and no-one to give them too :rotfl:

There were 243 kids on the list last year, all of whom were in care in Southwark. What really struck me is that they were all given a value to choose a gift up to and a lot of them choose something which was nowhere near that limit. If I asked any of my nieces and nephews what they wanted, they would completely ignore any limit :D. I was a wreck when I came out of the police station after dropping off the gifts last year, the thought of all those kids in care who didn't have anyone to buy them presents really got to me.

Bringing this back to topic (sorry Sue ) I am really happy that this years sealed pot challenge ends quite early this year, I had decided last year that I would spend 25% of this years pottings on the giving tree this Christmas so the early opening makes it easier to get the gifts the kids choose.

Ours used to have a 'what I would like' section on the label, but in the last few years they took it off :( was a shame as it did make it easier to buy something if you had 'would like . . . Something to do with Thomas' etc, I must admit they were always very general and never expensive requests.

Don't feel bad though as 1) they do have someone to buy them a gift, it's you! your making a difference by buying any presents (your a real life Father Christmas!) and 2) as my mum once said when I got upset about the same thing, 'I don't think that each child only gets their name put in once, I think 2 or 3 people get the same child's name'

Very good luck with your pot, 25% will buy so many gifts :T

Hello again SPCers! My, my, things are slow here for September! :( First time ever I'm sure, but hopefully any day now things will start picking up and folk will start re-appearing and chatting more. I hope everyone's well, but for those who might not be or who are maybe a little under the weather for some other reason, here are special {{{Hugs}}} and I hope that you'll soon be feeling much better, or that life picks up for you.

You're still keeping up great saving, Anna, well done you! :D

Many thanks for the praise, 32b3, I'm really trying hard this year...DH too, bless him! I do hope your Giving Tree is still on for this year, do let us know. Just seen your post quoted above, doesn't it make your heart go out to them, poor little sweethearts. :( I've got to see if anything of that manner is done here, sadly it wasn't last year. BTW, don't worry about going off topic, it's a really worthy topic you're talking about and I'm sure no one would mind, I definitely don't! ;)

!! :j You're doing just brilliantly AND, as you say, all for FREE!!!!!! :D Keep up the fantastic work!! BTW, it may not be any good for the type of batteries you need, but try 7dayshop dot com as they're much cheaper with their stuff as it comes from the Channel Isles. Either that or have a look at the "Tool Station" web site, both sites do things much cheaper, post wise too! Best of luck.

My VERY best wishes to him please and very special {{{Hugs}}} for YOU! :kisses3:Thanks for your thoughts about our DD, hopefully her medication will soon be here so she can get on with it.
