    Evening all.

alisont - welcome to the thread. Good luck with your savings, but looks like you're well on the way.

    Target now met. :D
Potted 2 x £2 coins and a £1 coin = £5 potted and now over the £600 target. See how the next month or two goes, before deciding whether to go for the GRAND. I'm tempted to bank the £600, but I like the thrill of banking it all at once come November. So, it will probably wait. But, Xmas 2015 is now "free" and I'm sure I'll find something to spend the rest on. We have a holiday in November booked, so possible spending money.

Re bags - I use the Post Office to bank it. They can't refuse as long as you're paying it into a bank account - we're with the Co-op (among others).

    Evening

    £1.80 potted today.

I bank with Halifax and I took all my moneybags there last year. I took 5 originally, and the cashier mentioned that they take as many as you have so I went back again :). It's very handy.

great to hear some of the other branches are doing what is better for the customer and not what is easier for themselves

you cant exchange coins into notes if you dont hold an account with that bank, so go to the bank where you hold an account, either savings or current...

A couple of years ago I had over £250 in coins and tried to pay it into my bank account, only for NatWest to refuse to accept that many coins and insisted I use the coin deposit machine. I explained to her that the coins amounted to over £250 and I didn't trust the machine to count that number of coins correctly, and asked if I could change the coins into notes instead. She refused to change them, insisted it would be fine and called her colleague over to "show you how to use the machine". (I knew how to use the machine, I just didn't trust it!) I gave the coins to the colleague who put them in the machine. I also had £300ish in notes which the colleague said could also be accepted, so I fed the machine those too. In total, the machine had over £550.

The machine started counting... and then broke. With all my money. I ended up waiting half an hour for the colleague to retrieve everything before he insisted that the first cashier accept the coins. I've never paid cash to NatWest since :rotfl:

    Thank you for the welcome😀
Yes I'm off to a good start as I've had loads of £1 coins in my change this week so been putting them in the tin. Beginning to wish I was counting what's added but I have not so will be a nice surprise!

Well done on getting to your target.

My bank branch in the village closed several years ago so good to know about the post office as my nearest branch is 3 miles away by 2 trains & I don't drive. The village post office is a 10 minute walk away.

Hi all...I'm a relative newcomer to the potting challenge. My family seem to be embracing it and have seen various of them feeding the pot.

I decided that there might end up being too much money in it over the months. I like it to be prominently displayed on the window ledge by the kitchen sink so everyone can feed it. It's intended to provide the spending money for a family holiday. I banked a couple of weeks ago in a separate savings account and will carry on doing that. I think that will work best for us.

I got repaid a debt yesterday and put £25 in the pot.

    Morning!

Unfortunately I needed £1.60 of my £5 :( That's what it's there for though I suppose. So, £3.40 in the pot today :)

    Good morning all.

I'm still potting regularly but have given up counting what I've potted. It will be a nice ( I hope) surprise in November.

    Hugs to all in need.

    Be well.
