Get a taxi Jakes-mum, you get to see so much more :D

We ummed and ahhed about that but as we both have mobility issues we would have to use them all day everyday we are there to get to different parts of the city, which im worried will be very expensive, especially factoring in tips on top where as the subway was $30 for a 7 day unlimited ticket which (i think) includes the sky rail cable car thingy and meant we could just use cabs for the trips that are rediculously hard to get to on the subway and required multiple changes (hence why I was trying to work out where everything was :rotfl:)

My dad has just told me to look at going to New Jersey for shopping as its alot cheaper so need to look up how much a taxi is to there and trying to find out how much the toll is when travelling from JFK to times square . . . grrr their system is so complicated! IM BRITISH!!! I like things to be priced up including all costs! I don't want to work out my tax on my meal, cost up toll charges or percentage of my bill for a tip! :rotfl::rotfl:

Anyway, 2 x £2 coins in my tin after having to do a dash out for some ham :D

Had a great surprise yesterday. I complained about my increased account fee charges to my bank..... But actually got refunded about £1565.75. Still in shock!!!
WOW !! Well done for checking - I should think you'll check monthly now eh ;)

    I have potted my weekly £7 today ker-chink :j

I'm in need of a bit of support as had a mail overnight from my DS with a video clip. He is in some remote village, near Bukit Lawang, North Sumatra and the river has risen and is rushing past the door. They have been told to grab their bags and evacuate for higher ground as last year the river rose further and wiped out the village. They are surrounded with jungle so my mind is in overdrive. Obviously he is now out of contact !!

Hope you all staying warm and safe

Oh hugs to you Lynnejk, hopefully it won't be too long before he can get back in touch with you. Until he is, here's a dodgy looking hug to offer some support and love :grouphug:

I hope you son is ok Lynnejk. Please let us know when you hear from him x

Jakes-mum, in restaurants the tax and tip will be clearly on the bill so you don't need to worry about that. In shops that tax isn't added to the price ticket, but if you add 10% on to everything you will be over estimating,

The subway is generally uptown or downtown and because the streets are numbered rather than named, it easy to know if you are going the wrong way without going too far wrong iykwim. I have been going for years and I rarely go on the subway, although when I have its been fine. I live in London and don't do the tube here either. I prefer to see where I am going. The concierge in your hotel will be able to help you with directions. There are also really regular buses.

£3.33 potted today, and it's the weekend :D:D
