Why do some many people love Dysons?

We love our Dyson - a DC32. I went through two vacuums in a matter of months before as they just couldn't cut it. No idea what they were although they were cheap but they went back and got refunded both times. I battled with the idea of getting a Dyson for ages but caved as it was on a deal and came with a gift voucher which made it a 'steal'. I believe I've had it for around 5 years now.
Having always lived in flats we don't have to worry about stairs but my parents have no problem with theirs.2 adults groceries: June £35.79/£200

We were lucky enough to be given a DC01 many years ago, not long after they came out - it was amazing and lasted for years, since then I have bought 2 more and they were both rubbish, gave one away and returned the other not long after buying for a refund - I now have a miele animal and although expensive and uses bags, it is a really good machineNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

I have an old Dyson upright that I have had for years, and had another one before that. I find them really efficient for animal hair etc though they are heavy and clumsy to use. Perhaps the newer ones aren't so good?0

I love my upright Dyson. No problem taking it upstairs and I love the fact that if it eats something it shouldn't I see it in the clear cylinder and can rescue it when I empty.I would like the tube to be slightly longer though so that I can do all the stairs with it sat at the bottom."'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

I have a DC07, so you can tell how old it is. It's worked beautifully all the time we've had it and picks up pet hairs without a problem.
Too heavy for me to take upstairs though so we bought a cordless GTech just for upstairs. It's wonderful! So convenient and copes with any amount of dust and compresses it into small bales that you just empty into the bin. The Dyson has been relegated to the cupboard and the GTech is used almost every day. I kept the Dyson because of the tools on board, but it's rarely used now tbh.Normal people worry me.0 -
Had a Dyson once and didn't like it. Also had a Henry which worked well for a while but soon lost it's efficiency. Now have a Cat and Dog Miele and it is the best vacuum I have ever owned , love it£180.00 in 'sistercas'fund
Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.

I don't know.
I've got a Sebo which wasn't cheap, but I've had it for years now and it's really good. I had a Vax before that which was rubbish. I'd never have a bagless one again.
And me i use a Sebo and love it.I think its the best vacuum Cleaner i have ever owned or used.I have a Miele for cleaning the car which is good as well but if my Sebo ever broke down i would buy another one straight away.
Dysons i hate them .Bought my first one when they hadnt hit the shops as i bought it in the Ideal Home exhibition years and years ago and it lasted 13 months.Borrowed my neighbours newDyson and hated it so bought the Sebo and had it for years now. I cheat with the bags and just empty them and staple back up0 -
Love my Dyson, I'll probably never have another brand now. It's a little baby cylinder one. I've used my mothers upright (an original DC01) and the suction is great but it's a beast to push.
My little one follows me round with ease. The suction is great and continuous, it's easy to empty, the filters I can wash at home they'll last forever.
One of the reasons for me buying it in the first place though, is that I'm incredibly clumsy and each part of the Dyson can be purchased and replaced at home. I thought at the time that was a great idea. But the Dyson is also ridiculously robust and despite having used it in my usual clumsy fashion for years now, it's all still in one piece and working well. Sods law I guess. Prior to the Dyson I had had 2 vacuum cleaners in about 3 or 4 years.

The same reason people buy Smeg fridges or Bose stereos. They like to think they're buying the best and enjoy brand snobbery, when the MSE way is to buy the best value product rather than one which looks the best or has developed an image as the best.0

I hated my Dyson. Would never go back to owning another one. I didn't find it efficient at picking up dog hairs, and it rattled. It fell apart in the end, Bits of plastic kept falling off it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
