Well Toady i was shopping in asda with my beloved,

We were doing the usual shop and then i spotted beef on offer at half price, the maximum amount per customer is 6 pieces so my wife picked up 6 and i picked up 2 then proceeded to the checkout,

Woman on the checkout ran all the wifes shopping through and she paid, she then looks at me with the 2 pieces of beef and says i cannot sell those to you, i say why on earth not?
because the lady you were with brought 6, i say but she is a customer and i am a customer,, so i ask for the manager,
here is a letter i have just emailed to ASDA, as its such a long one i couldnt write it all again i though better paste and copy here as i will also be pasting the responce ,

Please let me know what you think! as when i called the 0800 asda number i was told 6 pieces PER PERSON PER DAY! but i was not allowed to buy any!

    Discusting from asda

    heres the letter

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing this letter to you as today i was treated very embarrassingly and completely unfairly in your XXXXX store in XXXXX,
    At 2.55 pm
I was shopping alongside my wife and saw your deal on beef, my wife picked up 6 pieces which is the customer limit, i picked up 2 pieces, we got the rest of our shopping and proceeded to the checkout,
When at the check out the lady on the till said that the limit for beef was 6 per customer, i pointed out the fact my wife was a customer and so was i, my wife payed for her shopping and left the store,
i was left standing with 2 pieces of beef on the checkout which the woman refused to sell me,
I asked to speak to the manager of the store, the security officer was then called over by another lady,
I then explained that 2 people are 2 customers as your staff did not seem to comprehend the situation, also i could quite easily have gone to the self service check out and not had this problem.

Well the manager approached me and was quite rude and insisted that the person which she did not know was my wife and already left the store was a joint customer along with myself and we were not entitled to buy the 2 pieces of beef i had.

So i was refused to be able to buy the beef, I was then told by your security guard to leave the store,
Now this was in front of a lot of people and very very embarrassing and most rude indeed.

on leaving the store i immediately called 08009520101 at 3.09pm and explained to a lady called susan on the phone what had just happened to myself.

She made it quite clear that 1 person is a customer as i was , she spoke to the manager at the XXXXX store and came back with a little bit of a different scenario which the manager had told her which was that i had attempted to buy 8 pieces of the beef,

this was completely untrue, it was completely clear to the manager of the store that i was buying 2 pieces and my wife had brought 6 ,

after a 22 minute telephone conversation i asked to speak to a manager on the telephone and Susan said that i would have to call the lowestoft store again , but Susan had already told me that the manager would not speak to me again so i was a little bewildered?

So i called back and spoke to the manager and asked why she had given a different version of events, ie me trying to buy 8 pieces of this beef when i was clearly only trying to purchase 2, then came to the conclusion that she was still correct and then i asked if it was now ok and i could go back and buy the 2 pieces of beef,
her response was "no and i dont want you back in this store again" so has she now added salt to the already distasteful saga by actually banning me from my local store because she dislikes my attitude?

I am absolutely disgraced by your staffs behavior today and i suggest you inform them of their duty to customers and that EVERY person is a customer! I am one my wife is another!

Also I will be making this public knowledge on every consumer forum on the internet what has happened and i will be publishing your response.

i have been shopping in ASDA store for a long long time and now will be taking my custom elsewhere unless you can give me good reason not to.

For now i await your response.
    Sincerely
    XXXXXXXXX

    SELFISH SELFISH SELFISH!
Asda can choose not to serve you if they want. Given your post and GREED i'm glad they did. Why didnt you just buy the 6 bits of meat? The rules are there to try to ensure that everyone gets the benefit of these offers not just you. I hope you carry out your "threat" to shop elsewhere. I bet you dont.
Oh and your letter is really boring :)

No swearing, i spoke clearly but not a shout or rant, i am sure they did not like the fact i was basically explaining 2+2=4, ie the customer i be 1, my wife be another.

Is it only me but did anyone else read that in a pirate type voice?

if it was me and i wanted to buy more than the offer allowed i would just makes two trips

buy six take them out to the car then go back and buy more at a different check out

the offers are limited to stop people buying up all the product and depriving others of benefitting from the offer

if you had gone to a different check out then you wouldn't have had a problem, whatever the rules or terms of the offer say asda were within there rights to refuse to sell you the product and you should have just accepted it and moved on

and as said your letter of complaint is a bit over the top, I fell asleep after reading the first paragraph

So the OP has a 'beef' with ASDA??

    See post #14 (and #15)
  • OP you really do have too much time on your hands.
In the time you have taken to phone, write, throw your toys out of the pram and whatever else you have done, you could have gone back and bought the other beef from this or another store. In fact you could have gone to several stores and bought more than your weight in beef.
    Give it up.
