Okay. I am sorry for putting a downer on this thread and for the long post but i needed to just let it out...
I lost my job... it was a crazy situation, got pulled into management office and then i was gone. I get a months gardening leave but i know its going to be hard to find a job on the salary that i was on, so i have accelerated my plans and moved back up north and looking for a job up here.
The recruitment folk say markets picking up so i hope they are right and i just need to be patient... i am just scared of not finding work for a while... im not someone who can sit on my butt for long periods of time.
I have been saving for a long time for 'scary moments' like this, as i actually fear the insecurity... so i am luckily in a relatively cash rich position (got 6 months cash to live on) and still trying to complete on this second flat i mentioned... i am just feeling abit down about the uncertainity of my future...
If anyone has any books they recommend i read, or any tips or suggestions, please PM me or post them on this thread - i would appreciate it.
I have spend the last few days talking to recruitment agencies (im a qualified accountant)...
Ill catch up with the rest of the thread soon enough.
Congrats SF - happy for you :-)My Goal: From 1st of Jan 2015 to 31st of December 2015 is to save 30000.

I am happy to report £3,400 for February. It is always the happiest day of the month when I can move money into my savings... makes me feel like work is actually worth it!
Hope everyone is on track!!I'm trying to remember to pay my future self first!0 -
Nothing to report for January as I've had a new kitchen installed. February won't be much better, decorating prior to putting house on the market.Save 12k in 2014 member 056

You've got great qualifications and experience, and at least have a bit of a buffer in which to find another job, so I hope you find one soon. It's one of those terrible situations that can happen to any of us, and I really do feel for you and wish you all the best.Save £12k in 2022 thread #7:

Final total for (half) year: -£4,0000 -
lalman that is terrible news, but it sounds like you are looking at the positives and at least you have a "cash cushion" to fall back on. When you say books to read are you looking for novels to fill your time or books regarding money and jobs? I can help a little with the first, not so much with the second...
Hope you are holding up and that you find a job again soon12K in 2017 No.029: £7154.37/ 18,000 (40%)

Number 42 here!
I'm declaring £272.44 for January.
I know I have saved more than this but I have paid off all my credit balance at 0% in preparation for a mortgage (totalling almost £3500!) so my total savings have taken a massive hit this month. I compared my opening balance in January to what it was in February and got to that figure. Thought it was the easiest way to figure it out!
Does mean however that I'll be saving an extra £100 per month for the next 14 months or so as that was from my sister to pay off the 0% card I took out on her behalf and all my quarterly bonuses can go solely into savings.
Onwards and upwards!0 -
Hi, All
No 159 here...
Sorry to have been MIA the past few weeks, but work has been a bit more than busy
I've also had a bit of a spendy January. In my defence , all sales and half price or less, and I probably now won't shop again for another year, but even so, it meant that I didn't save anything at all in January, which wasn't my plan at all. I will do better in February...I will....
However, I've also just been able to settle my Mam's wee estate,so I am declaring a savings amount of £4500 for January. Not life changing, but it will keep the wolf from the door should I need it.
I also am just transferring my rubbish personal account with S4nt4nder to their 123 account as that will mean I can keep the same account number etc, but earn a little interest on my bill money.
Lovely to hear your news, SF...a new baby on the way is a lovely start to the year :T.
Sorry to hear of the job loss, Lalman, I wish you well in your job search.
