  • Saved £500 for January which was my monthly transfer to my savings from my wages. Got a bit of January pay left (get paid the 18th) but my car needs new tyres and I have a trip to the dentist planned so going to use the spare pennies to cover those before putting any more in my savings account!

Also moving my savings to my 123 account so that should make working out my savings a bit easier as I'll now be using a basic account for cash withdrawals!

  • My spreadsheet of beauty says that I saved £1093.63 in January which I'm very chuffed with! However in a couple of days I'll be paying off the credit card which I used to buy the new boiler, so I'll be heading into negatives figures for February and March... oh well it was a good start!

Congratulations SF! That's brilliant news and a wonderful way to start 2015. A baby is always a blessing and definitely makes one more determined to focus on the future and saving. Really happy for you.

£1,000 saved for the month and updated the form. It could have been much more but I bought four new tyres for my car costing nearly £600. Then had to get new windscreen wipers costing £38 because I broke them with the ice on my windscreen. Also, I succumbed to the Ted Baker sale and bought yet another coat which I really didn't need but I really like the fit. I got £120 off but it's still expensive for what it is. Was debating on sending it back as not very mse but ...........

    Happy saving everyone.

A daunting week ensues. I 'treated' myself to a £5 magazine (SFX, but I love my SF!)

    No more treats. :A

But I had a small pay rise and a little bonus this month which has translated to an extra £259 this month, which I will try hard not to dip into.

Many congratulations SlowlyFading! What exciting news for you! And a big thank you for your continued work in keeping this challenge going.

I have not managed to add any more to our savings for January, so #182 declaring £1,619.66. This is way more than I had anticipated, largely due to a pay out from Thomsons. February is not looking so promising though- car insurance and several significant family birthdays are going to dent hit our potential savings!

Well done to everyone who has started the year with some savings- no matter what the amount, it is something that you didn't have at the start of the month :) It is inspiring to see how well others are doing!

I will send in the form to update my savings now.
