Final results now in and I have socked away £2,817.32 for December, bringing my final total for the year to £25,312.86 - so have not just beaten my original target but jumped up and down on it! :j

Congratulations to absolutely everybody on the thread, I think we have all done so well this year :) :A

Thanks also to slowlyfading for running this thread - I would not have remotely achieved anything like the above amount without it so I owe you greatly. :) BTW, don't know if anyone has said this before but re your MSE name and your own financial savings feats, you seem to me more "rapidlystrengthening" than "slowlyfading" - just saying :) ha ha :) it's maybe not quite as catchy though :)

Oh dear, no sooner do I post than I realise my calculations are out by £150! :o So actually my final total is £2667.32 for the month and £25162.86. Still so far above my original target that I'm going to keep jumping up and down though :) :j:j:j Yay :)

  • Hi everyone, and hasn't the year gone quick??

Today I'm ridiculously excited by the prospect of not only updating my monthly budget spreadsheet... but also the annual one! December has been fine budget-wise, with no unexpected bills thankfully, and Christmas kept under control so we could focus on seeing family without any unnecessary spending.
So reporting a December figure of £2740.53 giving a total for the year of £24,046.88.

Now I'm heading over to the 2016 thread to do it all again...hope to see you there.

    Happy new year all!

I'll update my total as soon as possible, looks like I've met my target!
  • Many thanks to Slowly Fading for running this thread. I dropped out late summer when we moved and Mr F stopped work so I didn't make my target but did save over 6k :) Couldn't have done it without you guys.

I'm off the mark...Banking £80 of £2 coins - going to put it into my regular saver ISA. Will fill form when I put my main bulk of savings in for the month.

Just filed my last update and reporting original target achieved for 2015 and some. :D

Thanks to Slowlyfading again for all your work and support over the past several years.

I have been with you since 12k in 2012 and since I am counting in dollars have upped my target by $1000 each year since. I will be doing the same and have a target of $16000 in 2016 and have just increased the direct debit accordingly but have decided not to sign up for the new thread - it's just second nature now and all just happens automatically so much so that I forget that I need to check in here and report on it (which is a good thing but means I probably can do better and need to aim higher LOL ).

It's great to see the interest each month coming into the bank; enough that it would be a worthwhile contribution to 'income' in its own right, if I fell on hard times and needed it. It's not huge but would pay my food / grocery shopping for one week a month and that's very comforting and satisfying when I think about how far we have come in just four years.

I still have some thinking to do and need to form a proper plan for this coming year but meanwhile thanks to you and others here for the ideas and support. As well as the regular savings I have continued to overpay random chunks off the mortgage, dabbled a bit in some shares and premium bonds and hope to do a bit more of that in the coming year. Time to retrench and have a serious think about the longer term and what I might do better with regards to structuring some of the savings into longer-term investments. Scary  really!!

Thanks again to all of you for keeping the dreams alive. :T
