  • Not sure whether to declare anything for December at the moment, "borrowed" some to pay (in full lol!) for couple of short breaks early next year, i'll be putting that back in but may not have much more, if anything to save on top or if i do, to use that as a kick start in January :D

I had the same dilemma. So I have posted what I have put back in and my new amount. But as I had not increased my amount I didn't do an update form for sf.

Wow am delighted. After an awful 2015 with poor health and other issues I have saved 139% of my target.

I include my main pension as I am self employed. I also include any money I save for my family. I have started a pension for my DGS and whilst I will shortly reduce my monthly contribution as I have to keep the amount to a size that I can afford to do for any future grandchildren not yet even twinkles. It could get interesting if I end up with 20!!!!

At times this year I have stopped contributions fearing I would be too ill to work and yet here I am, working and saving and looking forward to 2016.

    Thank you this thread.

Sadly, I have failed to make my target of £15,000 by £604.58. Hey ho, 2016 is another year! Reportin £2000 for December.

    Declaring £1,200 for December x
  • Just declared £1250 for December which means I have reached my £12k target for this year.

I have invested £6500 into the Vanguard Lifestrategy 60 stocks and shares isa.
£1500 has been paid into regular saver accounts so far and I will continue with that next year (Nationwide and TSB).
£4000 has been paid into high interest current accounts (Nationwide and TSB)

Next year I am aiming for £1250 per month so £15k in total so will be moving on to the £12k in 2016 thread now.

Congratulations to all who have saved this year whether you have met your target or not.

Declared £1560.31 for December bringing my 2015 savings to £11,235.62.
Really pleased with this considering we had our wedding and a 3 week honeymoon this year!

Ready for a quiet Christmas at home and will be spending New Year on the beach in Gambia. Already signed up for next years challenge with a more ambitious £12,000 target. Hope to see you all there next year! :rudolf::santa2:
  • I have to declare a defeat for not reaching my target this year.

Total year saved £7400. It's been a tight year with buying a new car, going on holiday for a month and numerous christmas work parties have stung the savings!!

Still happy with my total though and ready for next year
Saving for a house deposit
  • Thanks to Slowlyfading for keeping this challenge going in 2015. I managed to exceed my goal, set at £10000 because I was buying a house this year. My final total saved was £12335 so I've set next years at £12000 which I hope is realistic for me in 2016. Happy Christmas everyone!

    Final update of 2015! :)

I managed to save £791 in December (not bad actually with all the Christmas shopping and socialising I've been doing!).

That's a 2015 grand total of £10,368 - less than I was aiming for, but still a pretty good year overall

My new GRAND SAVINGS TOTAL is £95,207. I *will* hit the £100,000 mark in 2016, but for now I will celebrate my progress to date :D:D:D

Thanks as ever to slowlyfading, and well done to everyone, see you in 2016!
