No 143 reporting!! Last update today 27th Dec....I have had the most amazing December as I got a totally unexpected large refund from my bank to do with a loan....not PPI as I have already claimed that back a couple of years ago...have saved £4486.84 this month!
Grand total.....£14380.78...cannot believe it...good luck to everyone for 2016!0 -
I got my spreadsheets in a muddle last month, all cleared up now and it turns out I saved more in November than I thought - £529.66. Woo!
Then in December I saved £527.94 - not bad for Christmas but a fair bit of my spending was on credit card (for the cashback - all paid back in full, it's very MSE) so that will come out of January's pot instead.
Total for the year: £4668.15, which is 77.8% of my £6k target.
Hopefully next year I'll make my target, but I'm also planning lots of things (house needs work, I need some good holidays) so we'll see. No point in saving if it's not used for our benefit
Thank you SF for running the thread and see you all on the 2016 thread!0 -

Declaring £3454.91 for December, so a final total for 2015 is £29,202.10 against a target of £24,000 - looking back it seems I started off with a target of £18k and then upped it, so very pleased with that.
Part of the reason it ended up higher than expected was that 2015 was a year of lots of stress, strain, and travel at work; the plus side was overtime and extra savings, but there was a large downside too. I'm making a determined effort to get the work/life balance better in 20160 -
No#184 declaring £2957 for December. £33,094 for the year ... which considering it's going towards savings for the next long term house, is probably only just keeping up with house price increases ... so maybe no real gain in the end ?!
Anyway as a group we're over £1.3M, which is pretty good :-)
Thanks SlowlyFadding for all the work this year.

Checking in with my last payment of the year and it's my biggest yet! £1160.05
I'm absolutely delighted with that, it includes some interest from other accounts and some sales on eBay, as well as an unexpected £500 from the loan charges I got back out of the blue last month. Still managed to keep (spend!) some of that on myself as well, so I'm extra pleased!
That means I managed to exceed the £6k target with a grand total of £6121.66 (again with the nice rounded figures!). I would never have done that without this thread and the challenge, it would have been frittered away. Initially my plan was to pay off the last loan I have (the biggy...its been a millstone around my neck for 8 years....I could pay it off two years early) but now I'm not sure I want to spend it!! :rotfl:
Onto the next challenge in 2016. Looking forward to starting again.[STRIKE]Total debt 1.11.10 £23,446[/STRIKE]Save £6k in 2015 #129 £6121.66/£6000Save £6k in 2016 #39 £6000/£60000 -
Payday at last and I can confirm savings of £1200 in December. This gives me a massive £19420 for the year! This is amazing and I'm so pleased. I have to admit to being to being a tiny bit disappointed I didn't make it to 20k though...!?
Sadly I won't be earning as much next year so I won't be reporting quite such spectacular numbers. I will get to 12k though! See you all on the 2016 thread.Mortgage overpayments 2018: £4602, 2019: £7870
Mortgage overpayments 2020: £4620
