Similar here; I don't include work pension, changes in capital assets or share prices.
But DO include anything I put into ISA or other savings accounts. And DO include interest and dividends, as these also get added into the savings pot. If I could get myself organised, and sell off stuff on Ebay, I'd add that into the savings pot too!Save 12k in 2013-2014-2015-2016-2017-2018-2019-2020-2021-2022 - then early-retired.0 -

Personally I include anything that goes into the savings accounts whether that's from wages, interest or (very rarely) sales on ebay.
I don't include savings for annual bills (unless I put too much in and transfer into my 'proper' savings account at a later date) or pension payments which have already been paid via salary sacrifice by my employer.Save £12k in 2019 #85 £1,500/£15,000 (10%)"Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal" Henry Ford0 -
I actually do include my workplace pension, but only the amount that I put into it, not what my employer matches it with. I pay the maximum I can by choice and that's why I include it.0

I don't count my main pension, but do my AVC. As this is tax free in and out and I can take it all as cash, I'm looking on it as a big piggy bank and most my monthly savings go in there now.
I only count net, so the savings I declare are worth another 20% on top of this. I've also deducted the fall in my S&S ISA from what I actually put in (hopefully it will regain).
My dental and house maintenance pots "owe" me after an expensive year and will have to pay my savings pot back in 2016.
So I count very much "worst case" with the hope that when I retire in a couple of years I'll have more than I was counting on and I have a bit of leeway if there's any slump etc.Save £12k in 2022 thread #7:

It's been an interesting year on the financial front. This time last year I was looking at my savings and thinking that I needed a kick up the !!!! to start saving regularly so that I could work towards a deposit for a house. Seeing the amounts saved in the 2014 thread was really inspiring and I found some related blogs which were really great.
I set myself a target of £7500 for this year (#110) and took up some actions like reviewing bills, reducing unnecessary expenditure and so on. I had a good start to the year and was on target as we went in to May/June. However, my savings kind of stalled then as we had a very costly summer but I also found out that I was being made redundant and know that next September I'll be getting a good sized payout (~£30,000) so my saving effort dropped off a bit.
I'm unlikely to save more than the £2500-£3000 I'd saved to May/June but will be setting a new target for 2016. One of the things which has been of use this year was tracking expenditure each month, seeing when certain costs came in (car tax etc) and being able to plan for them next year.
Being part of this forum, reading some of the many blogs around and seeing what others have saved has been really useful and I'm going to go again next year with a better idea of what I can achieve.0 -

Sorry I've been so slack at posting my numbers. I've not kept perfect records but here's what I (User #122) have:
March £4252.77
April £3003.65
May £3633.33
June £2304.46
July £841
August £841
September £1827.12
October £2085.60
November £400.71
December £400.71
(Couple of months I didn't keep a record so I split the savings from the following month.)
I didn't save as much as I had hoped but I had some huge expenses this year. I also still found the process of keeping track of the numbers empowering and useful.
Thanks for encouraging me to manage my finances a bit better this year :beer:0 -
I was going to wait until the end of the month to do my final update but I don't think I will be able to add anymore to my savings than what I've added so far this month.
So my last declaration for this year is - £1550, bringing my total to £8250. :j:j:D
I hope I can do as well next year.Homeowner:j0 -

Update...
Have just added £800 to my medium/ long term savings for this month.
With all the 'ins' (savings) and 'outs' ( holidays, house decoration, new bathroom) I have done a quick calculation and I am up £7000 on this time last year. The most that I have ever saved in one year.
Thank you to all for helping to keep me focused. See you on the new savings forum.2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons
