Hey everyone, I just added £3,300 for August. Slowly, but surely carrying on. I hope everyone is doing well, and I am looking forward to some joyful news from SF!
I'm trying to remember to pay my future self first!

Received a letter from HMRC today confirming that they owe me a £505 tax rebate which I'll receive in the next couple of weeks hopefully. That will safely bring me to this years target with some extra to stash in my rainy day fund (I'll do an official update once everything is in and banked).

We're reaching the end of our research to re-mortgage our flat and release equity to purchase the flat downstairs as a buy to let so will soon know what the damage will be for that. We won't make any tangible profit from the BTL flat for a while as any profit (which will be very small after mortgage payments etc) will have to be saved up to cover any unexpected larger expenses and/or periods where the flat might be empty, but equally it won't leave us any worse off financially, so in the longer term it will prove to be a good investment.

Can someone tell me how to access SF's other thread? It's 7 August now, the date is looming and I need to know how everyone is in her family! Who knows, there may already be a mini-SF.

I've often thought I might be slightly sensitive to things unseen. At almost exactly the time when I was wondering about SF, she was having her son. Now I shall have to visualise everything going well with feeding, sleepiing, etc. All the best SF and family!

Congratulations for SF on your new son!

It makes me broody just thinking about other peoples babies ha ha.

I'm up to £1098.99 for the month, though briefly went backwards as I had a gas and electric bill to pay (to prevent them doubling my direct debit to £160 when my usage is less than £70!).

A finally got £100 from Quidco for broadband I set up for a work property so that's gone in. Plus £4 interest, and the remainder of my usual monthly contribution. I think that will be all for the month now but we'll see if I have any spare change left at the end of it.

I also may be going up to Edinburgh for the Fringe, so that will require some cash. We're taking the campervan so that should sort accommodation, still leaves lots of fuel and cash for food and drink, even if we only see free shows. Urgh, it's making me feel queasy thinking about the spend. I'm so excited to go but I only have about £250 left for normal food, drink and fuel for the rest of the month. And I am determined not to dip into the savings. We'll have to see how frugal I can be!

    Declaring £1,500 for August

Feel quite happy about that considering last month was £0

Plus awaiting a call back from a mortgage broker to see how much we could borrow for our house move. I've got everything crossed
  • Fantastic News - Congratulations to SF and hubby on the birth of their son. Such exciting times in the SF household!

I have paid in £500 to my regular saver cash ISA with Nationwide today towards my new car next year. £250 is due to go out to my stocks and shares isa next week in the Vanguard LS fund and any extra will stay in my Santander 123 account once we know what we will be paid in August. I so hate getting paid at the end of the month :(

Congratulations SF and Mr SF on the birth of your little boy. Hope he is settling well for you and the birth went well.
