I know I said in my previous post I wasn't going to add anything to my total this month; but having just gone through the figures I ended up with a positive figure of £589.55.

Next month; I'll be expected a negative figure; but maybe I'll be surprised again.

Still not quite sure how I've managed that; as I thought I had spent a lot this month. Will have to go through the figures again.

On another positive note less than £300 to go on my student loan; looking forward to having that paid off; and having the additional money to add to my savings.

Hope everyone is enjoying the weather.

I've been frustrated with my saving the past two months, but I keep telling myself it's not every day someone accidentally proves to you that your wall is in a dangerous state, and it's not every month you pay your car insurance (not that that's much, a paltry £170 fully comp with protected no claims).

Next month it may be the same - our only child returns with his dear wife for a visit from Melbourne! There will no doubt be much celebrating.:j

    This month is much better!

As well as the usual loan payment, I paid an extra lump to save myself £17 interest. (I just paid a tenner extra for July's, but that's still saved £2 interest!). Total paid: £520 :j
In addition, another £33 into HOOF - Holiday or Otherwise Fund from various cashbacks and book sales.

    That's a savings total of £555. :T
    Keep reading books!
August grocery challenge Budget £150. Spent so far: £109.32. Remaining: £40.68

Yes I have 9 years no claims, my partner only has 1 year as he only passed his test last year.

The £1,100 is a multi-car policy for both cars.
    £396 for mine
    £704 for my partners

He's only 25 and just been driving a year so I didn't think £700 was too bad (first year was £1300 just for him!)

Perhaps Im wrong and could get it down a bit more??
