Sorry to hear about your scare SF. I hope you're ok and taking it easy. The spreadsheet can wait!

As predicted an expensive month for me. Loads of driving lessons, a holiday and unexpected £500 bill for course fees. Eeek! I've been really, really careful with my food budget for the rest of the month and done a lot of staying in. I'm really happy that I've managed to save £600 this month. It has been hard.

Just realised that I've already hit my 6k target for the year. I set it before my house purchase fell through and it was ambitious in those circumstances. I've changed it to 15k to reflect my lack of mortgage and motivate me. Might have to change it again if I end up buying sooner!

    Hello all,

Was a good month for myself personally but would've done better if my laptop didn't die!

Number 158 checking in with £940 for the month taking my total to £3900. So near halfway, bloody laptop!

Hope everyone else had a good month!

Interesting that this morning I am taking time to remotivate myself re money. This week I have done some serious cash tidying up. DD had a lump sum invested in our names, her parents as she was given this money when very young. It is now awaiting reinvesting in her own name and I feel like this tidy up process was long overdue although she is only 20!

I am now looking at making a cash plan for next 2 years. Looking forward.

  • Hi Everyone, I know I'm 5 months too late but I saw this wonderful thread and I just had to join in the fun if thats ok. This is exactly what I need to stay motivated to save ££. This year alone I've only managed to save £1000. Partner and I are saving up for a house deposit and have some money put aside. This year has been really challenging as we've have to break away from so many bad habits and adapt new ones; this being one of it. To get involve with Savers and Driven people.

Today Thursday 28 May; I've challenged myself to save £1600 by the DEADLINE on this thread thats £50 each week.

HERE'S TO A BRAND NEW START!
    Me - £50 a WEEK 2015 JUNE £0 /£200
    Partner-£200 a AWEEK 2015 JUNE £0/£800

    - Partner= Save £6200(June-Dec 2015) - £150£/£6200
    House deposit saving - £40,400/£90,000

    Hello folks,

Well as previously mentioned, it's been an expensive month for me, I am declaring a measlie £38ish for May (will do the input google forms thing in a minute, just need to add up again to get the pence).

After a friend accidentally knocked over part of our frontage wall, we decided to get the whole thing redone and it looks splendid! Initially, the bricklayer quoted £2300, but we omitted the skip and took the muckaway in a big 2t twin axled trailer (with help from friends), then I chose the most expensive bricks offered (to match house walls), then we discovered getting the footings out was much easier than expected, de dah, de dah... But what I didn't expect was an invoice for £1600! What a great bricklayer! He actually took cognizance of cost reduction, what a star!

However, as I have taken the money to pay him out of my current account, I'll need to wait until the end of June to know what is savings.

SF, take it easy chook, feet up, cup of tea. Nothing is more important than resting.
