    Lol bsms!

I'm number 207 on the list and have been posting my saving for three months. I see this (in my own case only others ways are available) as money I do not spend on regular household bills and normal expenditure during the month. As I;ve mentioned, the day after pay day I clear remaining money from my current account to my savings account. This saved money is a one-pot recepticle for short, medium and long-term saving. As soon as the new ISA year begins, mucch of my savings will be transfered to that,, since the max increased last year I've been much happier as I could keep most of my saving tax-free.

However, and this is a big bad however, I have to have a wall rebuilt at our home, so about £2,500 will come out of my savings for that. But I've already saved it so I won't be subtracting it from my totals. In the same way, I loaned a friend some money in December from my savings and when he repays me I won't be adding that to my monthly total either.

    Does this sound odd?

  • Thanks for updating, SF I can't believe I've saved nearly £2k. I'm going to have to work really hard this month and might even resort to ebaying to increase my total as I've got a bit of annual leave this month. :T

Finally made the decision to pay off the last part of a home improvement loan I still had outstanding.
Although it will take £15k off my April savings number, it still feels like the right decision as the rate was a hefty 5.75%... This will save me from what would have been £2300 worth of interest over the remaining life of the loan.
I am now debt free and it feels soooo good !! (excluding my massive mortgage)

Did everyone know on the spreadsheet if you click view then list then target you can see everyone in the order of how much they want to save so it's easier to compare yourself to others with a same or similar target?

When overpaying on my morgage I always use to concentrate on how much interest I was saving. It made me feel good and help me stay very focused.

Had a lovely surprise yesterday - went into my account and found that I had been paid some interest. A nice amount for me - as I had my equity from the sale of my house in my saving account until last August. Will post amount with my normal monthly savings later in the month.
