First of all, thanks for taking a moment to enter feedback on my thread. I am normally very savvy with the ££££'s but on this occasion.....
I switched my network from T-Mobile to O2 via CarPhone Warehouse on 19/11/14, receiving my PAC code on the 19/11 and thus made O2 aware of the pac code during the online transfer. Received my new O2 sim on 20/11 around midday switching sims and noticing my network had changed correctly to O2.
However, today I have received a final bill from my original provider (T-mobile) for £238 as on the morning of the 20/11, I used my phone to make calls, emails, browse the internet and watch a couple of video’s.
I was unaware that I would be charged for usage by T-Mobile on the morning of the 20th and was not made aware by T-Mobile that this could happen. If I be honest, I assumed that whilst my T-Mobile SIM was in my phone, my contract would be honoured as i had to give a month's notice (which I did) and was happy to lose the monies on the outstanding contract period. BTW, I have also been charged for my month's notice!!!!!!
I have sent an email to T-Mobile at cust.rel@t-mobile.co.uk whereby i asked why I was being charged and what options/actions they would undertake moving forward.
What options are available to me, do I have any legal recourse as this is a bill I simply cannot afford.
Thankyou for your replies as this is a deep concern to me.

What does the bill say? What are the charges for?
Yes, the contract covers everything until the porting, but the allowance can be applied pro rata to the part of the billing month.
I don't understand why it was a surprise to get charged for the notice month unless it was paid in advance.
That said, T-mobile are notorious for their attempts to rob the leaving customers:

Actually I meant to post another link instead of 'MNP..." one: TMobile final bill0 -
I undertook the contract with T-Mobile on 28th November 2013 for a period of 12 months. Knowing my contract was soon to end, I had scoured the market and was happy to undertake a new contract with O2.
On the 19th November I requested my PAC code from T-Mobile and as stated via CarPhone WareHouse, went on board on 20th November inserting my new SIM at around 14:35. However, before I inserted I used my new o2 SIM card, I used my phone on the 20/11/2014 (assuming TMobile was still my provider) and have been charged:
CHARGES SUMMARY:
Your monthly plan charges
SIM only refund £11-12M refund for 20/11/14 to 22/11/14
-£0.91
What you used outside your allowance.
1 Picture messaging £0.33
Mobile Data
29MB 669KB 133B outside of your allowance £189.28
One Off Charge and Termination
MNP Early Termination Fee £2.71
Notice Period Charge £8.86
Total Charges £200.37 with VAT to add.
So in summary, I had a 12 month contract to end 28/11/14. I was not notified by TMobile via text/email/writing or any other communication, that on the date of my SIM card switching to o2, that I should not use my phone whatsoever or otherwise I would incur charges.
I really need assistance and guidance on this issue, so any help would be grateful.

Contracts don't end, only minimum terms do.
They should have charged you until the 19th of December. Part of this period was paid in advance - see your bills. The ETC has to cover the unpaid part (and includes the 'refund').
Most likely this period wasn't the same as a billing month. In this case the data allowance has to be applied to the last days pro rata - as I said above.
If you didn't exceed this pro-rata allowance, then yet again T-mobile are pulling a fast one, although they and some other people will insist that it's just a "billing error".0 -
Thanks Grumbler. Have read that section and can see what you are saying.
Very considerate to link the Final Bill forum.0
