RV been out in front garden with his tape measure and the official total so far is 9 inches. Lovely fluffy soft snow and tons of it still to come. Temp sitting on minus 3 and that's as high as it's going to get today. I love winter :j

FUDS do you have a cafetiere for coffee? if you do make your herbal infusions in that and the loose herbs will be pushed down out of the liquid by the plunger and you'll have tea not soup!

Don't forget aromatherapy burner and essential oils to help your chest.

With herbal drinks - do you have a small tea strainer or could you use a big sieve and put the herbal drink in a bowl then sieve it?

    Brilliant ideas :D

I have my oil burner on as I type, eucalyptus oil but looking into oregano and thyme for the future. I'm feeling a little better again. Oh fingers crossed. Please. Please.

Children are out playing in -5 they are prepared they tell me as they have hot chocolate. They're about to learn a lesson in ambient temperatures I expect. ;)

Hey Mar, DH works for a National company who are based in Scotland. He's been given the OK by his Scottish boss to shut the depot at 2 and get on home. Apparently you're on the cusp of a red warning up there!

Well we are snowed in! Schools are closed and the buses are off.
Roads are so bad I can!!!8217;t get to work or even get the car off the drive!
Was a total blizzard last night an not much better today.

Took some HM corned beef pie out of the freezer for lunch and a spag Bol out the freezer for tea.
Kids have been out in the snow and are now wrapped up watching a film in onesies with hot chocolate!
I!!!8217;m still in PJs and got the washer on and I!!!8217;m not planning on doing much at all today.

Hope everyone is safe and warm today.

  • My shopping arrived early! Good old Ocado. I realised we probably needed some loo rolls in the next few days so that was lucky!:D

I bet the bin men won't be coming this week.

I'm going to get a cup of tea and watch the TV for a while.

I think it actually feels warmer today, yesterday was bitterly cold.

Looks like I'm going to have to eat my words coming thick and fast in mid Cornwall now, typical that's it's my day off, but hopeful like all the kids in the duchy praying that I will get a snow day off work.....scrap that it's already stopped my fault for wishing :)

My dd phoned me and we agreed that as there is an amber warning where I live it would be silly to try to drive here and do a shopping trip so she is staying in the warm and catching up on laundry from her short holiday.

Washing machine is on and will either tumble dry or put stuff on airers later. My leek and potato soup was not cooked through so it is now back on the hob for a while and I am keeping an eye out for some deliveries. So glad that I am well stocked up and don't have to try to struggle on the snow and ice.

    Stay safe .

Tori, probly just as many eejits up here! Although the Borders is ok, because it's so rural and we get a lot of bad weather, folk tend to be more sensible, but not in towns.
Heavy blizzard conditions since just after 1 o'clock and drifting like hell now. Main A7 road is deserted, I can't see anything moving on it, and everything gone so quiet, even the sheep out the back field.
    Hope the elect stays on.
RV says we much have about a foot now. In 2010 we got four and a half feet, but thaty was over the space of 6 weeks, this is one day :D

My Sainsbury delivery was cancelled today. Looking at the local forecast we have snow up to tomorrow lunchtime then a respite after then, so have rescheduled for Friday. I told my OH, who was having kittens at the thought of no food being delivered, that there is enough stuff in the freezer for main meals for a month. I made sweet potato soup for lunch and a sausage and bean casserole which we will have with pasta later. Tomorrow I will do a kedgeree with either fish or leftover chicken in it. Come to think of it, I could do chicken and bits of Serrano ham leftover from the monster ham OH ordered for Christmas, sort of a paella-ish meal. Am feeling in right smug git mode, having prepped for this weather food-wise.
