I know how you feel Nargleblast. I walked down to get the paper this morning and have never seen the village Coop so busy. Usually people do their shopping in the supermarket in town and just use the Coop for odd bits but today they were coming out with full bags. I did think about going in but we don't need anything. We might need fresh fruit and veg by the weekend but no point in buying them now and we have plenty of frozen and tinned.
We've got about 6 inches of snow now and it's snowing again.0 -
Well we have been in all day and am quite enjoying our snow day!
Thinking about tomorrow and might put a sausage casserole in the SC for tea. I!!!8217;m keeping things charged in case of any power cuts but so far we seem ok. It!!!8217;s a full blown blizzard here in the NE and has been like it all day. The kids are bored now after being stuck in all day. I have a feeling the school will be closed again tomorrow too.
I!!!8217;m going to get the candles and torches out in one place before it gets dark just so I know where everything is. Have had the heating on all day as it!!!8217;s still -2 outside and the wind is shaking the windows on the side of the house! Kids have extra blankets and socks for tonight a a hwb for bed (I take it out when they get into bed)
Hope everyone is safely in the house and staying put! The busses never came back on and everything from local shops to the cinema has closed at 4pm!
Stay safe xxLiving the simple life0 -
Same here tink, nothing moving in the Borders tonight. All buses and trains off and daughter went to Galashiels earlier and the banks were closed and Tesco was closing, nothing open at all she said.0

We have stayed put all day. The school has just confirmed it will be closed tomorrow too so going to dig out some arts and craft stuff for the kids to do and try to keep them busy!Living the simple life0

We have proper snow, it's been 8 years since we last had it like this so forgive my child like fascination, it will be all over by tomorrow with the rain that's following but today I will enjoy a day off with my feet up watching the white stuff.0

We have just a little snow, not quite covering the grass but non stop drifting down fat feather flakes. We're just under the eastern edge of the amber warning here so I don't know how much we will or won't get. He Who Knows has just gone out to walk Cookie dog and get his paper so I'll get the house up to scratch while he's out. We went on the market with the house yesterday and had one viewing in the afternoon but I'll be surprised if we get anyone brave enough to come round over the next few days, snow here is hens teeth rare and the whole area becomes 5 years old to enjoy it, house viewing will be very low down on the priority list I think! Stay safe everyone xxx.0

Snowed in, village cut off. Woke up to 40cms/16" of snow. Coping bravely with tea and toast here.

I think sw may well go red later. Heart is in mouth at the moment, dd has to go in, has patients and she is on call but will hand over as soon as, she lives rural. I have stressed that she needs to get away before 12. DS was wise in taking his rugged mountain bike to work in glasgow yesterday, it has very wide nobbly tyres. Others are still stuck on the roads after a very long freezing night.
Tea and toast mar and that lovely white silence and a warm home, bliss
Flasks re-filled and food for the day is out of the freezer. The flask water was very hot after 24 hours and used for dishes. Main meal will be at 12 and am well stocked on enough cold food after that, if needed
Stomach always churns in snow, until I know everyone is safe home0 -
Enough snow here for me to lay down the law and declare that "No, we will not be silly driving out to the shops to stock up on a few things we're running low on when we have enough stuff in freezer and store cupboard to substitute."
The emergency services have enough on their plate without having to rescue stupid or stubborn pensioners who get into trouble because they think they'll die of starvation if they run out of fresh tomatoes for a few days !
Just hope we don't run out of wild bird food though as they really do need some help in these conditions.0 -
We've "only" got 11 inches. DH has insisted on getting the train to work even though the station is a 30 min walk away and he has to get two trains-disadvantage of being the boss , I suppose.
Nothing moving here. All schools shut but the paper boy still delivered at 7.15 a.m.0
