The YouTube app on Now TV box (£10) can work just like Chromecast
In that you can link your phone/tablet to the app so that you can then make youtube selections on the phone/tablet and cast them to the Now TV box for viewing on the TV rather than trying the poor search on the Now box, with its on screen keyboard

seems Roku 1 is 29.99 everywhere now
lots of reviews on amazon - LINK

Roku 1 was £49.99 on amazon earlier as I checked it when I saw it in Curry's for £29.99. Think I'll buy the Roku 1, wonder if it's an older/newer model that your's NiftyDigits - can't see what difference is?

A small PC connected via HDMI will give you everything you need at a reasonable price if you're happy with a used PC from, say, ebay.

I've used this method for some years now.

I have both a now TV box and roku box. I got the roku as it does full hd and you can get more apps. It was second hand and I paid £20 to be honest I don't think it is worth paying more, the extra apps I never watch and like I said earlier the only channel that transmits in hd is iplayer and then it's not all the programmes so it really isn't worth paying the extra for unless of course you are going to take advantage of Netflix etc but these are paid options so personally I don't use them.

I am interested to know how I connect my phone for easier you tube searching on roku/now if anyone can explain. Thanks
