I would only repackage it if a member of my family were to argue that it tasted or performed differently, just to try and fool them. It has been known!

But if you feel better doing this then do it.

I was reading in the weekend paper about LIDL and ALDI and the snob value surrounding them, apparently in the country where they come from, they are just ordinary supermarkets, whereas we label them BUDGET so people are a bit wary of them. The only reason they are sometimes cheaper is that they do not stock vast quantities of items like our large supermarkets do and so can keep down prices. They also have an interesting stock of things.

The only Value stuff I won't buy is eggs and meat for ethical reasons. But I am willing to try anything else. I used to buy the normal tesco branded stuff and then realised I was paying nearly 3 times as much for things like tinned toms and baked beans when I couldn't taste any difference! Half the time the ingredients are exactly the same...
    GC July £110/£97.21 already spent:rolleyes:

    GC August £100/£87.98 already spent:eek:

Only recently Tesco has opened near us and until then the closest one was on the mainland. I am now enjoying trying Tesco Value and own brand things :D , I used to bring some back from trips away but it is better not having to cart them 100's of miles! I also use Lidl stuff, no complaints and some of it is better than 'posh' stuff. I don't care what anyone else thinks about our family shopping- its our shopping, not theirs :p .
I do buy local meat, although got some reduced to about 1/4 price in Tesco (they stock our local meat) and in the Coop (also stock local meat), and try to stock up when it is on offer/reduced. I haven't bought value eggs to date either, and hoping to not have to.
If someone thinks they are better than you because they buy fancier food then really they have an awful lot to learn about values, in my humble opinion   .

I agree, I think I am better for getting the bargain and like to brag about that;) . Mind you I like to buy my meat from the farm shop/butcher.

Yes I try to do a meat shop at least once a month from our local butcher and spend approx £20-25 in there. The rest of the meat is either locally supplied from Tesco/Coop/Somerfield (they are now Tesco lol) or Scotch Beef from Coop when its on offer. I do struggle to get local pork thats not too expensive though :o

Love Tesco value, dont give 2 hoots what any nosy so and so thinks when they look in my basket. If you can get the same product cheaper then more fool you if you pay more to get some prettier packaging! I will try any value product once, if its no good i'll try something different.
Like most other people though i dont tend to buy value meat.
Currently using Tesco value dishwasher tablets, they are fab, have now started using 1/2 of one and they are still great:D £1.68 for 30, cant beat it.

I use these as well and I found that they got the baked on stuff off better than the expensive tablets I used to get!

Can I ask what ones you did use?

I use them Quantum (they are silly money).

But I think they are so good, I am loath to try any cheaper ones.

They were finish 10in1 I think they were called. They were fine but sometimes left a bit of gunk on burnt on things. I have NEVER had anything left on anything since using the value ones. Although a friend of mine used the Tesco own brand (one step up from value) and said they were terrible.

I used to use finish, usually whatever one was on offer. The Tesco value are just as good IMO. They got a really good write up in which magazine too.
Mrs E why not give them a go, they are less than £2 so not too much money to waste if you really dont like them.
