Always skint and have a 3 month old child. I need money advice

  • The government is, however, ensuring that the child is provided for with likely a significant amount of benefits.

Always such assumptions!! I hate narrow minded people who assume that a young mother must be on "significant amount of benefits" I've known and worked with many young parents to know this isn't always the case. Me being One of them. We know nothing of the situation, just a dig at the OP for not, what was it 'manning up'.

This forum, over the past few months has become nothing but a bear pit to new posters. A way to sink teeth into people asking for help with high horse, sarcastic and rude comments. I agree Martin a Lewis would be ashamed at the way this young man has been treated.

OP- no idea what the rents are in your area but could you possibly find somewhere like a house share with the washing machine on the premises for similar price to what you are paying now?

I understand your current place is self contained annexe? Would it be more expensive/cheaper to live in a house share?

I don't see the harm in suggesting these things.... OP has stated he is already going to his mum's every weekend anyway so what's the harm in taking some laundry?

He lives 7 miles from work and 30 miles from his mum. I still don't see how a difference of 30 miles makes it impossible for him to live at home, plenty of people do longer commutes.

And that he already stated he goes to mums 2 times a week on average to have a free meal. So clearly the travel isn't a complete write off.
I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

Perhaps mum does not have a washing machine. Perhaps mum can not afford extra electricity. Perhaps OP does not want to burden his mum?

Cost perhaps? Daily commuting wuld be too expensive on his wages. Simples.
And you have no idea why he does not live at home (may be 075987 reasons) so leave it for him to decide if ging back home would be an option.

:rotfl:Of course it's up to the OP what action he decides to take! He is spending more than 50% of his (low) wages on rent, travel and laundry already. I think the suggestion to live at home is a perfectly reasonable one given that these costs might be lower if he lived there. Of course it might not be possible, I have no idea if there are other reasons that he doesn't live there, I can only go on the information provided on the thread. Simples.

Just wondering what do you find funny in all this?

And maybe not. The op has provided limited information.

The op only stated that it was "too far" to take laundry so we "assume" mum does have a machine otherwise op would have said "she doesn't have a machine". He also didn't state she wouldn't or that it was unaffordable to her only that it was too far.

Based on this information I offered useful, practical & free advice to the OP to take it in batches when he goes for his dinners. He takes it or not. It isn't up to you to decide what gets posted.

OP does not have to explain himself to everyone and anyone in so much details.
He does not live at home, there must be a reason for that. No rocket science.

Only that some people are providing perfectly valid, constructive advice, so not sure why you seem to be taking it very personally.

As said, I don't know what's wrong with suggesting the guy lives at home. If it's not possible for a million reasons, fair enough but we can only go on the information we are given, and so far it's just that "it's 30 miles away". I already said in a previous post that most apprentices do live with family, and are not expected to support themselves let alone a child.

And so what? He replies or not, it is his choice & it is the other posters choice to suggest things that they think may be helpful. If they've already been suggested, the op has the choice to skim over them.
