    Hi

I think you are doing really well with your budget. Maybe firstly check the mum of your child is getting everything she is entitled to. Maybe you can do surveys/competition/etc on your phone. Check out pasta for packed lunch I buy a massive bag for 3 quid and it doesn`t go off. Just add an onion or whatever to make it tasty. Also try car boot sales for little bits for the baby it all helps.
Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.

I would also like to say how well the OP is doing. Not read the whole thread, but what I have read suggestions on food expenses have already been addressed.

My son also became a dad at 19 unplanned whilst just into his 2nd year at uni. 4 years on having completed his degree he is now in a job he enjoys, albeit stressful at times but bringing in a reasonable income to support his now wife & 4 year old son. The last 4 years have not been easy but he is now reaping the rewards of sticking it out & putting up with all the sacrifices.

To the OP if you take on board the helpful advice given & keep your goal firmly set on completing your apprenticeship you wont go far wrong. Also enjoy your time with the baby they grow up all too quickly.

Not ever heard of contraceptive failure then......................

It's pretty unlikely for 2 types of contraceptions to fail at the same time isn't it? I do agree with you but I also think that if you absolutely cannot get pregnant/get someone else pregnant then there are ways of ensuring that...!

    Think, Rodney, think!

Buy a loaf. Make loaf into sandwiches. Freeze sandwiches (in ziplock bags). Each evening remove 1 bag and put in fridge. You'll have sandwiches all week. You can even do it for a whole month.

I used to do this - my favourite was pilchards - if you like them they are a good cheap source of protein. A loaf of brown bread and a big tin of Glenryk pilchards (I removed the bones, and mashed them up with vinegar or lemon juice and black pepper) and a bit of butter would make about ten sarnies for less than £2.

Individually wrap them and freeze and that's 2 weeks of lunches sorted. You could also use cheese or ham or whatever. Depending on the cost of fillings it would probably save you about £20-£30 a month. Small changes can make a big difference when you are on a low budget, good luck OP!

How is this productive? (yes I know this isn't productive either)
None of this derailment will help the OP. (but in my opinion the benefits stuff is valid)
When i mentioned the benefits that was to put an end to the discussion cause i didn't feel comfortable discussing that considering how snotty some people had already been. It is not valid in this circumstance but if my gf wishes to discuss her benefits, i'll forward her in your direction as it appears you wish for it to be discussed :money:

Cheers to everyone else for the rest of the advice. I have gone to the other place in this forum that was recommended by loads of people to get help with my lunch costs. If that is successful in my trial period of it i will then look at getting my other food costs down next year so i have more money left. I'm going to try get a bike so i spend nothing on travel either and i hope to have it by the time i return to work after the xmas break.
