Yes we relented and put it up yesterday. I really wanted to wait until mid December but was out voted by the others!!!0

I put it up whichever weekend is the most convenient to do so in December. This year, we were away last weekend and are away this week too, so looks like mid Dec, though the kids would prefer it to be sooner. I don't put it up in November and wouldn't unless they were exceptional circumstances to do so (eg illness, working away over Christmas, family abroad visiting). When I met my husband my MIL told me you were meant to put it up '12 days before and 12 days after (Christmas) but since I had never heard that expression before she said it, I had no intention of following it.Its put up on Christmas Eve and down on 12th night I never understand why people don't stick to tradition... everyone is sick of seeing it by the time Christmas comes around when its been up for weeks.
Gran said, where she lived, she saw a tree being put up and decorated on Christmas Eve once when she was a child, and that was in a shop near where she lived, she said she though people who lived in the countryside would have been more likely to get their tree Christmas Eve. That might explain why people don't stick with tradition...because it wasn't tradition everywhere.0 -
I'll put mine up within the next few days.
I take it down shortly after Christmas; on New Year's day at the latest.0 -
Mine went up on Nov 30th but wasn't decorated until Dec 1st! My tree is always up either the last weekend of November or the first weekend of December, it just depends when my dad will come pick it up with me
I always get a real one so I need use of his van!
This year it's a 7 footer which touches the ceiling in the lounge. It's massive and I love it!0 -

Haven't really put any other bits up get, just browsing the web for some snowflake window stickers and saw on this page you can even get them to cover your car!!

Not sure I would go that far but would make me smile if I saw that driving around!
Thanks @savingmonkey - My windows will look very festive when they arrive :T0 -
:xmastree:
Its up as in up in the loft. Along with wrapping paper, cards and trimmings. Dreading having to get it down. The Jack Russell will go frantic and it will sit on the dining table with a couple of coffee tables around it and chairs to see if he will start ignoring it, then we can maybe hopefully move it to the telephone table in the window. Then put the baubles up. If the barking and bouncing get too much it will all go back into the box until he is a year older. Anything for a peaceful life!!!I'm stressed enough over this - please don't add to it.:eek:0 -
Bought my tree yesterday, going to put it up on Sunday, 7th. We're only having an outdoor tree this year, no room indoors. I bought flashing lights to go on it and will put it directly in front of the bay window, so it can be seen from indoors.I love a bargain. Now mortgage and debt free. hurray!!:smileyhea0

I put ours up on Monday as my friend was coming to stay for a few days. It looks good. Put some other decorations up but didn't go OTT. I might add a few bits as time goes on.0

We've just put our tree up as we are all at home tonight, so hard with 3 of us working different days and shifts. Ordered Dominos (50% code
) and going to have a nice family night in watching tv, eating and drinking - it is Xmas after all:xmassmile

Yes, I have purchased my Christmas tree and I am planning to decorate it one day before Christmas with lights, ornaments and chocolates and with many other things.0
