accomodation is silly money , i stayed at the above mentioned chungking mansions , for the price is was good
There are plenty of affordable places to stay if you look... Chunking Mansions is famously grotty, but up the road you can get a similar deal in a better environment in Mirador Mansions. And if you don't have to be in the city centre then there are good options near Silvermine Bay and on some of the islands (I like Lamma, which is just a boat ride from the city centre...)0 -

If you go to macau direct, you can get it direct transfer from airport
If you stay in HK first, there are two pier in HK with ferry go to Macau. One in HK island, and one in Kowloon.
If I remember correctly, there are two pier at Macau as well.
I do watch a show in Macau, it is not cheap, but it is a good show.0 -

According to the AA an IDP is recommended in HK, but maybe not obligatory.

Why would you want to drive there? it's pretty easy to get around, good public transport and even taxis are not crazy expensive.0 -

I don't recommend you drive in HK.
Public transport/ Taxi is convenience and cheap enough.
You will find HK too many one way street in the city centre. Also GPS not quite work due to high wise building.
Plus, expensive and difficult to find parking space.0 -
Thank you SW17 and CISCO001

As others have said it's completely unnecessary to drive in HK. Public transport is good and all part of the experience plus most of the tourist sites are walkable or a short bus ride away.0 -
